Entering the portal - 2026

He was a great shooter the year before and zero reason to believe he wouldn’t be again. Also, he started all year and we made the Final Four
Still believe we would’ve been better with him coming off the bench

.-.
But if he’s coming in to play the 3 I’m much more interested
No idea - undersized, doesn't shoot the 3 well. Maybe just a guy that offers depth that doesn't scare Stew off, and they fight it out.

I don't get any sense that Hurley will go recruit some stud over one of his own guys to push them out. I brought this up early in the season, but I think once the Fab 5 is all gone, Hurley will be in a really weird spot where he likely has no long termers that he feels super connected to like he did 23-24-25-26. AK, Cling, Fab 5, Samson.

Once next year is done, maybe Reibe is still around?

I honestly don't think Hurley will ever recruit over his guys in the portal - it's not how he builds his culture of trust, and honestly I cannot doubt him. This is what gets his guys playing harder than anyone else. I tend to think he'd rather lose with his guys than win with mercenaries, and again cannot blame him. I know I'm sometimes the first one to fall victim to wishing we had this or that, but after this run, I'm going to just dump my trust into what he's doing and let it ride. After watching Arizona fold like a cheap tent, full of talent, and us take UM down to the wire, I tend to prefer what he's doing over any of these other programs turning their roster over annually.

The 2024 was something really darned special because it checked all the boxes and we all crave that bullet proof team. I don't think we can expect that to happen again. It was too perfect a scenario.

I'm going to be curious to what he does this portal season, expect him to try and retain his guys as much as possible, but happy with what he builds based on the culture he looks to establish.
Can't believe you made me like one of your posts.

To each their own with those picks - Lakers took Bronny in those slots.

I see nothing about Silas that looks NBA to me. I saw absolutely zero PG instincts - he is a tough, grinder of a defensive guard though. I see a guy that could potentially play WR in the NFL.
Man you just. keep getting worse. I gotta hand it to you, just when I think you've finally found the bottom, you keep on digging. I don't know what you watched all year, but I believe Silas was at the top of the BE in assists. You are just atrocious.

All G league first team!

I read decent 3 pt shooter, good hands, good rebounder, and good finisher around hoop. I've never seen him play so im just going off scouting report I read.

Royal has started the last 2 years at Ohio State so if he comes here I would imagine he starts. With many teams in the country being really big Royal would make sense at the 3 and then getting a stud 4.

Can someone check to see if RuffRuff’s account just got hacked?

Just watched some film on Royal and looked at his boxscores. Seems like high IQ, is usually around the 12, 13 pts a game. Good rebounder, good foul shooter, not a high percentage from field, can hit occasional 3. Who knows, in UConn system he might be better or maybe not

My ideal targets are:

1a. Sananda Fru, 6'11", C, Jr. (From Louisville)
1b. Somtochukwu Cyril, 6'11", C, Soph (from UGA)
2. Alex Wilkins, 6'9", CG, Fr. (From Furman)
3. Neoklis Avdalas, 6'9", G, Fr. (From Va Tech)

I would like to see Hurley go out and get a couple two way forwards 6-8/9 that is athletic. A dominant center who can catch and make shots in traffic . And a quicker pg .. I like tiller not a fan of royal but money talks n we can’t get the guys we want more cuz of nil n budget

I'm actually more curious to see who announces they're coming back first.

He is a PF
I said it early this year. We have enough wing type guys. We need a Power Forward à la the Mailman. A Yaxel type guy. I wondered why we didn’t really push to get him this year. JP Toppin, Zuby, for you old guys Anthony Mason or Charles Oakley.

Fru is soft as a marshmello and Avdalas is the one position we currently do not have a need for.

Him being an 80% free throw shooter gives me confidence he can get to 35 or 36% from 3

Uhh, anyone catch that comment from Silas after the game? Said he 'has a tough decision to make whether to return next season'.

That would be an extremely surprising loss, can't imagine he's thinking about the pros...
Especially with the crazy depth of this year’s draft.

Not sure it only means going into the draft. Some of these kids may just be looking for top dollar. You can't let anything surprise you with the portal. Didn't think Self, a HOF coach, would be seeing his entire starting roster in the portal. Anything can happen - I don't see a one year player like Silas as an impossibility to throw his name out there and let the bidding begin.

That's what Newton could do....if our set was completely blown up and everything broken down, he could still create something on his own and get off a shot. I thought Demary could be very similar, but he didn't quite show those qualities. I'm hoping next season he can take the next step like Newton did his 2nd year and become that guy.
Silas has only had 1 year here. Tristen had a couple. I though mid season Silas started to attack the rim more with good success but then the high ankle sprain in the playoffs set him back.

This season was, in my opinion, Hurley’s best coaching performance to date.

The bio of that account says "everything I do is satire"... They're not even making it tough to check if it's legit.

You may be right about the typical player attempting to grab as much as possible, but Silas doesn’t seem to be that kid. With all the media coverage this year on our program and our 4 years of recent successes, what kid wouldn’t want to be in Storrs. Danny is the real deal and despite his antics, the country saw a coach who really loves his guys and who love him. As for Self, he has done little with the players he’s recruited. Mo wonder they’re all leaving. I would have to think a Natty or final four appearance would mean something to a kid while still get a bag from UConn.

The Demary's are the most connected family I've ever seen to UConn basketball. I would be shocked if he played somewhere else.
