End of an Era. What was your first....

First CD I bought was Dirty Work by The Rolling Stones. Not exactly one of their classics, but was hot in 1986 when I bought my first CD player.

First album(s) were Foreigner by Foreigner and Point of No Return by Kansas.

Waynes World 2 soundtrack and Superunknown by Soundgarden, circa 1994 when the family got the JVC 5 CD changer.

Rush: Power Windows

Wanted to get something with all digital encoding (DDD). Bought it with my first CD player from Crazy Eddie in Hamden :)

Tupac - 2Pacalypse Now
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet CD to replace the tape I lost.

Best Buy isn't selling music CD's anymore.

Yes, CD's as the go to way to purchase and listen to music has long since passed, but it's a milestone.

I don't remember what was my first CD. I do remember getting 12 of them for 1¢.
Sgt Peppers in 1987

Dookie by Green Day.

I remember my dad was part of BMG music club and I have way too many terrible CDs because of it. The deals were great and I had CDs for every one hit wonder.

I vividly remember Dookie being the first CD because it was the first album I liked from start to finish.

First vinyl album I actually bought was Steve Miller’s greatest hits. I’m not sure on first CD. Maybe Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall. I think I mostly rebought what I had on cassette and vinyl back then. Pretty sure I was at UConn when I got my first CD.

Got my first CD player as I was entering high school. This was one of the first 4. Bought it at either (Most likely) Strawberries in Westborough or at Lechmere in the Greendale Mall in Worcester.

Anyone around for the record/cd shop by store 24? University Music or Records or something like that. I think there was another one too above DP Dough that focused more on instruments and sheet music.

Two record shops were located in Storrs in the early to mid 1980's. I believe University Music was indeed the name of one of them, it did sell records as well as sheet music. I think the other one was called The Disc, or something similar. I think University Music was located in the same set of shops as The Sugar Shack was.

Yes, yes and yes. All correct.

Wow. The Disc. I used to sell used CDs there when I ran out of beer money.

My first CD player was an ADC single disc player that I bought at a stereo shop in Avon for $200. We went down the street to Caldor where I picked up Eric Clapton Time Pieces. Had to be early '85.

I owned Time Pieces before I had Backless, so Time Pieces was my introduction to his song "Promises" and I will always remember it for that. Great tune.

That is a great tune. If there were grooves on that CD, there wouldn't be any left. Time Pieces was always a late Thursday night staple in my dorm room.
