Merci Arsène

Arsene Wenger was the architect of the beautiful game. His approach to soccer was revolutionary and his teams were a joy to watch - a combination of power and finesse. He was a mentor and father figure to a generation of footballers as well as being astute businessman. Arsene Wenger was responsible for moving Arsenal from their old home (Highbury 38000seats) to a new stadium (the Emirates 60000) and managed to keep his team competitive for a decade with a limited budget for buying new players. He created an atmosphere at Arsenal that was very similar to the atmosphere surrounding UCONN - a constant striving for excellence with a focus on teamwork and respect. He will be sorely missed.

I think for most true Arsenal fans, this is a happy day. Arsene was a tremendous manager for years, but those years are long gone. He did a number of great things for Arsenal. But his time to move on was back a couple years. Not a good thing when one hangs on too long.

Hoping the board can get a manager in who can restore Arsenal.
