I'm not sure you could group together two more dissimilar commentators.

Bilas is clever, witty, and calls it like it is. Most people here like Bilas and appreciate what he brings to a broadcast. Bilas was also the one calling out NCAA hypocrisy and touting us as unquestionably blue blood, the capital of college basketball after we won both men's and women's titles in 2014.

Dickie V is all schtick, can't get through a broadcast without dook, and is about 10 years past his expiration date. He is insufferable and is rightly lampooned by most on this board.

Couldn't agree more. Bilas in a class by himself IMO. Always seems objective to me with a lot of insight and sense of humor. Dick V just makes me nauseous when I hear his voice. I remember Billy Packer who was always a shill for the ACC but DV takes the Dook, NC and whole ACC thing to another level. Just my opinion. Speaking of getting some respect; here is an article from Saturday Dallas Morning News: Tolbert referred to the UConn program as "legendary". Good article. Have to give the kids credit for their hard
play despite NCAA lockout.

There are definitely ignorant slobs who hate on Vitale on here, but who talks trash about Bilas?

I may have been mistaken on the Bilas though. I probably mixed them up about being Duke homers, which I know Bilas isn't really, i think i just got them mixed up. My initial point was just that I think alot of times we complain too much about officiating and announcing. I didn't find anything wrong with either last game, I don't really mind the announcers in most games either, sometimes the refereeing is really bad, but it's usually mutual

I miss Gus Johnson even if he only called only a few games now and then. I'll watch games on fox just to hear his calls.

Also, at the end of the interview, KO said to them "we'll see you guys again soon!" revealing to me how frequently we have Elmore and Patrick as our game crew. This got me thinking... these guys are older commentators, likely near the end of their run, do they live in CT at this point and just demand to not travel far for games? They might just be our official crew because they want to call games in the state of CT, and that's why we're stuck with them

Every team's fans complain about almost every announcer. I'm grateful the game was on ESPN2 amd not CPTV.

You got that right. I clearly recall Yards of old pasting Dick Vitale constantly. Easy to see 3 different threads on Vitale. He used to get trashed. Until he landed in the hospital with throat problems.
