Elite 8

Not high scoring but hard fought games. Both losing squads had their chances and fought despite just being outmatched. Duke in particular I thought executed well on both ends, they just missed shots and rushed a few times. Kara’s building a great thing in Durham and they’re going to be a top 5ish team going into next season.

South Carolina didn’t look very good IMO. They were gritty and got it done but for stretches they lacked focus and I don’t think that bodes well going into the last weekend. They haven’t had a good tournament so far, but props to them for getting the job done. Feagin/Kitts have really stepped it up.

UCLA is going to be a tough matchup for UCONN if UCONN gets there. I don’t think they have anyone to match up with Betts and UCLA is loaded with shooters.

No we are not. We have our plate full regardless of who we play.

‘You all talk about SC not looking very good. Compared to what we have had the past 4 or 5 years? I agree. But we have a bunch of fighters on this team that just do whatever it takes to win. As any UConn fan knows, being in this pressure packed situation where the stakes are great, experience helps. I thought our starters played with great poise the last 3 minutes of the game when their season was on the line. Their defensive stance the last minute was masterful.

As a fan, it sure was nice Watching the other game knowing we had already punched our ticket.

As a basketball fan, I think UConn is the team playing the best right now. However, as we all know, games aren’t won on paper. Good luck to everybody who still has a team in!

They certainly have a chance. I wouldn't count out a Staley coached team. They have a bunch of players that got experience winning a Championship last year. I was mostly having a bit of fun, just pointing out that either Texas or TCU will enter the semi final not wanting their season to end. I do think Texas matches up better w/ South Carolina than TCU does.

UCLA really earned that win. LSU kept clawing back, but Bruins always managed to get another 6-8 point gap. I was impressed that they did not wilt under pressure.

Mulkey presser will be fun. My guess is LSU executed a game plan to contain Betts and minimize Rice, while letting others beat them...which they did.

LSU 1-1 in tourney now with both Iowa and UCLA, losing the rematches.

LSU's issue was that offense couldn't throw it into the ocean. Williams was atrocious, outside of morrow and Flaujae they got nothing from anymore else. Their D on betts was respectable on Betts IMO. She got hers but she worked for it. Gardiner was a key addition for UCLA this offseason and her performance off the bench arguably won them the game.

Yeah, I agree about Texas/TCU. I think we match up better with TCU also. We have played Texas so many times it’s just a matter of wills at this point.

If UConn gets by USC, I actually like their chances against UCLA. I am not really sure who they have that can guard Paige either.

Guessing it’d be Jaquez, but that’s a valid point. Hopefully Close learned her lesson from USC when she tried to have 5’4 London Jones guard 6’2 Juju Watkins 1 on 1 and it didn’t go well
 
Even the opponent didn't understand why Fournier wasn't in.

If you watch Duke, Fournier cannot remember plays. Everyone from staff to players are directing her where to go. Frequently, several seconds are wasted on possessions trying to get her in the right spot. My guess is Lawson didn't feel they had that time to waste at the end of the game. Jackson was a solid option. Coach probably should have called a timeout when she stopped at the three point line and drew a new play, but it is what it is.
 
Think it's great that we're getting this TCU-Texas match up today. With Texas moving to the SEC this season, we never got to see this match up. Would have been really interesting to see them battle for the BIG12 title.

I'm sorry, but Schaefer coached teams just make the game so ugly. It's really, really hard to watch. Don't like it at all. Kudos for their defensive intensity, but it makes my eyes hurt. Don't know if I can stick with this game.

Well TCU should feel fairly good being down only 2 at the half as much as they've struggled most of the game. Texas went ice cold. Emma-Nnopu has been a monster on the offensive glass.
 
Texas completely dominated for 18 minutes but didnt get separation and let TCU score late. to cut it to 2. Disaster for the Longhorns.

Van Lith created that opportunity - TCU was relentless on the boards and demonstrated poise and resilance. This is a great game.
 
It's kind of crazy that TCU is only down by 2 points with the 100 billion turnovers in the first half. That was about the worst case scenario, yet it didn't hurt TCU.
 
Close grind it out games…Texas DNA. Maybe because they have to play at the p a c e of their bigs?

A year after Caitlin, this year's tourney is not exactly bringing the offense.
SC's 54-50 win is looking downright prolific right now.
