Elite 8 games: Washington-Stanford and Syracuse-Tennessee

Looks like Syracuse is going to get the win. Not a great game from TN, but at least they made it deeper than most thought they would.

Really? Not sure how you spin this as a positive. I would argue Syracuse was the first really good team they played this tournament and they are being taken to the woodshed. Holly with no answers. They had S Carolina out of the way and still will have their Final Four drought.

I think this is very positive from a UConn standpoint: Holly keeps her job and TN is shut out of the Final Four again.

I would really have liked for UConn and TN to meet in an earlier round somewhere in Connecticut, but this is a likeable result.

Let's talk path to #11 for a moment. It will be Cuse and Yoodub on the right side of the bracket. Heaven help us, one of them will play for a title.

On the other side, UConn has a winnable game versus Texas, then a challenge from Baylor. Get through that, and the task starts to look more than likely a UConn result.

Right?

Tennessee's best offense in this game is to get fouled, miss the second free throw, and get an offensive rebound.
Syracuse just committed a lane violation on a second free throw, perhaps to combat this strategy, but Tennessee made the free throw anyway.

I do not believe that Peck is doing this game.

I heard the absurd comment and naturally assumed...

My bad.

i am sure I will get some backlash for saying this but having graves, carter, and reynolds hurt at the same time just made this impossible. TN was never going to win like that. if they had been healthy, TN would be headed to Indy.....NO DOUBT

Tennessee down 20 with less than 5 minutes... They are going home... Down, down, down...

I wouldn't pencil in Baylor for the FF just yet. I would put Oregon St./Baylor as a toss up.

Really? I shouldn't have penciled the Bears in, true. But wouldn't you agree Baylor is a strong favorite?

Who would have thought at the beginning of this tournament that Syracuse would be the last surviving ACC team and Tennessee the last surviving SEC team.

Also, that UW and Syracuse would be their conferences representatives in the Final Four. (Oregon St. could join UW. If they can beat Baylor)

Fair enough. The bigger and deeper front line leads me to favor Baylor over OSU. But if Oregon State wins, it might (?) be better for the Huskies. Or maybe not.

Syracuse, with a small lineup and bombing away from downtown, possesses the ultimate David strategy. Washington is a much better match-up for us.

It must feel good for the Day Twin's to beat Tennessee. They originally committed to UNC and then were shown the door after Diamond and the others committed and wound up at Syracuse and now they are in the Final Four and UNC is nowhere to be found.

Yeesh. Of course it's a positive for Tennessee to get to an Elite 8, especially after the poor regular season they had. You're really going to argue that Arizona State and Ohio State weren't good teams? Forgive me for saying but that's absurd.
