Granted it was a very short time....but once a Husky always a Husky.

Health-related...wonder if her future might include some ties with women's basketball and/or the family business.
I saw her play several times in high school and just watching her warm-up was worth the visit...obviously as was
the games.

she ain't a husky to me.

I have no qualms about her doing what she needed to do for her life....but she's not a husky.

Confused Curb Your Enthusiasm GIF

I think maybe you need to dress for at least one game for that rule to apply, or at least be on the roster at the start of the season.

She was a joy to watch when healthy and much better than I realized when she arrived in the W.

Her well documented college journey back to Delaware made me think "big fish in little pond". I was proven wrong when she became a pro and she proved to be as good as advertised.

EDD reminds me of Lauren Jackson, when healthy she was as difficult to guard as anyone. Sadly multiple injuries took her away sooner than she and many fans would prefer.

Just for the record: Elena had a very close relationship with her older sister...who was
severely handicapped...from birth. Elena considered herself as a prime caretaker...along with other members
of her family. She obviously thought she could go to a university away from home and handle the absence it would
create. If she had stayed a bit longer, maybe that would have happened....who knows? She did not handle that absence....even for 3 days. She called Dad and got a ride home to be with her sister for personal reasons....finally attending Delaware...as close to home as possible.

I can sure see how UConn fans were disappointed in her decision. But I can also see why she made it...and in retrospect hope that it was the appropriate one for Elena/her sister and the family in terms of hoops... and more important matters. I would not characterize her leaving for her very own personal reasons as 'bailing out'. 'Enuf said by me on this topic.

In the WNBA, EDD had 2 types of seasons: (1) seasons with injury; (2) seasons winning the MVP. In her 2019 championship season, I believe she became the only player to record a 50/40/90 season.

EDD played 241 games over 10 complete or partial seasons. In contrast, Maya played 271 games over 8 seasons.

nobody says she's a bad person or made the wrong decision....but she never suited up for the program. She made a decision that something was more important to her than being a husky, and maybe that was the right decision for her and her life...

But it doesn't change the fact that she never suited up, wasn't with the program for a week, and left of her own accord.

I'm glad she's lead a successful and fulfilling life, but it wasn't as a husky. There are many amazing people out there who weren't huskies. She's one of them.

Yes, we all know the story.

Two or more sides to every story. While the heart goes out to her and her sister. Nobody ever mentions the opportunity she took from other top recruits by committing to UConn and having them looking elsewhere. Then making the decision too late for the staff to replace her. Again big heart and kindness to her and her sister but...... She was never a Husky. :(

Suggest that as a UConn recruit and short-term acceptance of UConn scholarship, we not focus so much on nits and congratulate her greatness. Geno has a home at the shore near hers and often they meet and talk. If he still has respect for her, that's good enough for me.
I saw her play numerous times in college at UDel and was amazed each time. Typically she started every game trying to feed her teammates but by the second half took over if needed. Not unusual to see her score 20+ points in short timeframe. Totally un guardable at college level with several games with 15+ rebounds and 5-10 blocks.

No one is saying she wasn’t good, or a very thoughtful person regarding her family. Just saying she’s not part of UConn wbb.

Blake I think she's your favorite basketball player of all time... at least in High School. Thanks for the update, hope all is well with you.

DaddyChoc: your words are probably true. Things well here...hoping same for
you and yours.

She's no Husky. Did she even spend 48 hours on campus? Probably has no clue where the dairy bar is. How can she be called a Husky? She caused a real roster problem, AND DIDN'T CARE.
