Edwards vs Morrow

Not even close. Edwards is so so much better. Morrow lazy on defense. She is more aggressive on offensive end because she wants her points. Morrow took 26 shots and needed them to reach 20. Bruno kept her in game just to keep her stats.

I felt the same way but wasn't going to post my "feelings" because of the possibility of severe backlash. It appeared to me that Morrow was stuck at 8 rebounds and around a dozen points for the longest time. Then when we "relaxed" our play in the 3rd and 4th quarters, she got her 2nd wind to get her double-double and 20 points. Then she was subbed for.

In all fairness...Morrow doesn't have a supporting cast. She's a fine player at 6' and AA material. Keep in mind...Depaul also was playing with a short bench. She expends a lot of energy going up against a lot of height game in and out. She's hardly lazy. I think she was frustrated.

I do not know about the rest of you guys but on the Fox/SNY replays during the game, there were quite a few moments caught on tape of unsportsman like play by Morrow deliberately bumping into UConn players. In one play after she pushed Edwards, she elbowed Aubrey in the stomach causing poor Aubrey to bend over from the punch. The announcers spoke of having the refs begin to take over the game which I believe that they tried to do by calling more fouls.

In any event, fair play is greatly appreciated during a game.

We know that Auriemma is loathe to play people who are not ready for what they will face. Even in blowouts he will put in players who may experience too much failure only at the end of games.

DePaul’s bench consisted only of relatively inexperienced freshmen. We could assume that Bruno has a similar philosophy to the man he has coached with for USA basketball, or we could take the cynical and misanthropic interpretation that Bruno just wanted to get Morrow her stats.

This interpretation is not a good look for UConn fans.

She may have been frustrated but she played hard and played fair. And there was no whining. Morrow gained a lot of my respect this game.

I will say that AE had the better game last night head to head for sure. Morrow is very good at what she does, but AE is more versatile overall.

I don't mind Bruno keeping Morrow in to get her points and rebounds. She will be an All American and that is very important to the DuPaul program in terms of national exposure and recruiting.
He really had no choice. He tried subbing 33, but she got into her own foul issues.

Morrow is listed at 6’ 1” but that seems generous to me. Both Aaliyah and Dorka, and Amari for that matter, could easily shoot over her.

Similarly, it was game over when our posts got the ball down low.

Aaliyah is a much more complete player. Running the court, shot selection, finishing around the hoop with either hand, defense, all advantage Aaliyah.

20 and 12 is misleading but will keep her in the hunt for post-season accolades.

Morrow is one of the best players in the country but she is not better than Aaliyah. I think that was very evident last night. Aaliyah was the dominant presence in the game. If Aaliyah has even a decent game against Boston she will be All American. There is no other player like her in WCBB right now and when you see her play live and up close, you are just amazed at the transformation from last year.

Gotta’ agree with you! Even on
I'm gonna add to this....... she didn't play dirty. She played physical.
the battle over the ball with Lou, there was no there, there-although lip readers heard the Wrath of Lou! Inch for inch, and pound for pound, there a few, if any, better than Morrow!

Morrow was fouled before Lou ever came to the ball. Then it looked to me like Lou fouled her. And she in no way tripped or even tried to trip her.

This was a huge test for Aaliyah. I am sure she was eyeing this matchup for a while. Aaliyah is having a fantastic season and facing a solid player like Aneesah is going to boost her confidence even more. Plus, I loved that Aaliyah did not shy away from the physical play of Morrow. The replays showing Morrow throwing a shoulder or running into Aaliyah while running down the court, was a game within a game. The mental & physical side of the game and Aaliyah held her own out there in that physical & mental battle.

I've seen plenty of dirty play against Connecticut over the years, and Morrow seemed under control the whole game, except for crashing into Griffin which looked intentional. Possibly frustration by that point in the game, though.

I can't understand why people (not just here but in articles elsewhere) are talking about Edwards being a candidate for All-American. I think she's already a near-guarantee for that. If she puts up a strong showing against Boston, especially if Connecticut wins, I think she's a candidate for the various player of the year trophies (I think Clark is the frontrunner at the moment).

I've said it before, Aaliyah has become the player everyone thought she would be and boy,Aaliyah has she become a beast on offense and defense. Aaliyah has become a complete BB player with no short comings What she did against Aneesah in holding her way below her norm shows me she should be able to handle Boston. I don't think Boston has faced a player that Aaliyah has become with the multiple means at her disposal to hold her own. It will be a historic confrontation, to say the least. GO HUSKIES!!!

Watching the game in person, there were times when Morrow was limping as severely as Azzi did before she was pulled from the Georgetown game. I'm not sure that she should have been in the game after that, certainly not after the game was decided. She appears to have a gimpy knee.

Watching there, the TV broadcast doesn't catch all the bs. Including ignoring her coach and getting sat down a few times.

Going back to the first DePaul game last year Caroline got her first hard hit on her head courtesy of a Morrow elbow. Didn't look innocent then rewatching still doesn't.

From day one, I've believed A.E.has the size and potential to be as god or better then Alliyah Boston. I believe she is on her way and we will find out in a couple of weeks..... As far as Morrow goes, she's a heck of an offensive player BUT, what I saw is she does not like being out played by another big.........
