Illinois could use Shannon tonight. Getting into the lane and then their guys throwing up the weirdest floaters I've ever seen. Edey not even near the play.

You just made the first “big is bad” post. The voices in your head are active tonight.

My post was about Big East refs killing us. Edey is slow. As a result he often uses his body to slow people down. He wouldn’t get away with it in a UConn uniform.

He is painfully slow. Id put Ak at the 5 pull Edey out to the 3 line and just let him blow by Edey all game long or until he fouls out. With DC back at full health we wipe the floor with Purdue. Defensively Castle and Diarra would eat up their backcourt for breakfast.

Edey would get every rebound and bully him under the basket for dunks or short jump hooks on the other end. He's got 9 inches and close to 100 lbs on Karaban.

Exactly. People here are underestimating Edey. Putting Karaban on Edey would not work out well for us. Purdue can also just get into zone or play some form of 1-3-1 on us. If we don't make 3s in that situation, Edey might have a field day on the other end. We will definitely win if we have a good shooting day.

Im not saying to start AK at center im just saying its a lineup that used in spots will give Edey problems because hes slow and he does tire as seen in every game ive seen him in. Purdue gets into a half court set. Ball gets dumped down to Edey and he easily scores over AK. Uconn gets the ball upcourt AK steps out to the 3 line with Edey on him. He blows by Edey who tries to follow easy 2 for AK possibly gets fouled by Edey. Hes not quick enough to keep up for the block and will foul. Someone slides over to help? AK kicks it out to the open guy. A steady diet of this DC and SJ for 40 minutes and Edey is done.

You're implying we'd have Clingan but also said we'd have AK at the center "all game long".

A real takeaway from Clingans absence is the development of our small ball game and lineup. Similar to throwing a zone at a team not prepared for it, small ball for 5-10 minutes might really upset the defensive applecart. Edey might struggle against that offense.

Conversely on defense against Purdue with that lineup, do you front Edey with Karaban and have a guard behind him looking for the takeaway(1-3-1)?
