Pretty wild how many parallels there are:
  • guy beloved in the state comes back to be HC
  • wins a NC quickly with a once in a generation on field leader
  • gets divorced and starts cruising for strange
  • this, combined with new celebrity, leads to decrease in effort

I think you are reaching a bit. LSU was still getting top flight recruits and no one was questioning Ed O's work ethic. He had a ration of injuries and was a disaster off the field either willfully neglecting his duties or being so oblivious as to be negligent.

If you were not able to read the article, there is quite a bit of questioning his focus on football, specifically speculating that it was replaced with a focus on women.

That article definitely painted the picture of Coach O placing football on the back burner to lay up with women, not taking the program serious etc, you coach LSU football and that position is one of the most important in that state, this a bad look for him

Regardless of how much went on behind closed doors. Coach O does seem to love that school. Kudos to him & administration on working something out behind the scenes where everyone can save some face.

At least Ollie never hit on a married pregnant woman that was also the wife of a member of the board of regents of the university, or brought his girlfriends to practices and let their kids get some reps in with the team

Just trying to get another dig at KO. Read the article and do some research before stepping out

Coach O is getting $17M to walk away. Unreal. He gets his first payment of $5.96M in 2 months with the rest coming before 2025. Being a fired football coach is the best job in the world.
Which really makes you wonder why so many are scared to lose their jobs and coach games not to lose as opposed to trying to win.

I think the split with Calhoun was as big a factor as his personal life situation. Glad KO has a new job in which he can channel his energy and time. Chief wishes him well and maybe next Spring everyone can get together in an event for charity and bury the hatchet.

Another difference: Orgeron had failed at other HC jobs, and seems to have gotten a title because he had Joe Burrow and that OC.

to me he was Gene Schizik, a guy who was never an elite hc but had a star qb carry him to a ntl title.
