  1. Early on, way too many turn overs.
  2. Liam's spinning layin at about 17 minute mark... a thing of beauty.
  3. These refs are brutal.
  4. 11 turnovers in a half? And only 8 dimes? Those aren't the kind of numbers you're expecting in your final cupcake/warmup game of the season.
  5. At the other end of the spectrum, 7 blocks and 7 steals in a half is pretty damned good, even if it is pretty low level competition.
  6. So far it looks like we'll go as far as AK, LM, TR, SB & AM can carry us. AM isn't quite THERE yet, but he's leaps & bounds closer than he was the first few games.
  7. What the hell was that foul call on Ball a minute and a half into the 2nd half?
  8. Our possession that began at about 15:36 in the 2nd half looked like we were trying to turn it over but it took 3 or 4 tries before we managed to give the ball away.
  9. Game getting sloppy with 12 minutes left.
  10. Less than 6:45 left and we've gone completely off the rails. Haven't scored since Samson's dunk at 10:57. Finally scored at 6:32.
  11. 10 steals and 11 blocks is impressive, but 19 turnovers? Against East Texas A&M Commerce? That's just bad.
  12. Looking at the ESPN box score, they have Singare with no minutes and one foul? I never noticed him in the game.

Until we play a real opponent nothing would surprise me. Seen all the games and the last 2 live and Hurley wants what he had last year but there is no Tristen. Maheney had 1 assist and he is not a driving and 1 contact player or rebounder. He’s a 2 guard. Can’t look over the D for Samson lobs. Nowell has a lot to learn and even though short his toughness and athleticism would be good.
I wish Stew could handle well enough because he can create plays with his passing.

Can you explain that comment? I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at. Do you mean those are the 5 best players? Do you mean nobody else can be big contributors? Do you mean we have 5 guys who could carry the team in any given game (which is a very good thing to have 5 players that can do that)?

How to Win by 35, and Look Bad Doing It

All game I thought that Easter Texas seemed to be playing a tenacious 3 pt line defense. Al while clogging up the passing lanes pretty well.

Yeah, overall, they were far outmatched against the Huskies, but they will, I believe, punch above their weight this season.

Huskies gave Coach Hurley a lot of things to work on this week.

Progress has been made on rebounding, Johnson is doing better avoiding bad fouls (needs to do a bit more, still) and whatever our guard play actually is (whatever that was last night) looks like a load for any defense to deal with.

Passing will be a lot more disciplined going forward.

I expect.that the Huskies are going to be quite ready for Memphis.

Thos are the guys who are going to get the lion's share of the minutes.

After watching a few weeks of uninspiring, yet dominant basketball against inferior competition, this is the one thing I can say confidently. When we face tough competition, these guys, in no specific order, are the kids I trust will bring consistent play: Alex Karaban, Hasaan Diarra, Tarris Reed, Liam McNeeley, Samson Johnson. Everyone else has shown promising signs, but I still will hold my breath until I see it vs real teams

This game was against my alma mater. I just wanted them to play competitively as they just moved into division 1 this year. They won the division 2 championship in football in 2017 and I think that had a big impact for moving to division 1. I wish them all the luck in the world as they are still in my heart except against UCONN.

I think I would add Solo to that. He looks very comfortable with his shot.

Respect the optimism. I will hold suit with confidence in the staff, less on what we’ve seen to date. To the one post - order of confidence for me: AK, gap Hassan, Tarris. Ends.

I’m not fully bought into Liam yet - sure he does some nice things for a freshman but they feel kinda canned to me so far. Looking for that player that sees the floor and makes the right read, not goes on autopilot and makes a premeditated play. We got a lot of that going on right now.

The guy I keep hoping to see do more is Solo. Just way too gifted not to be all over the floor doing spectacular stuff. You watch those Marquette guards flying all over the floor - no reason he can’t be doing that. We don’t need a 6’3” jump shooter in that role as have shooting options. We need a guy that can pass, break down d, get his hands on balls, grab rebounds, muck it up (like Steph). Something about him continues to feel a little stiff, hard to put a finger on it. Like a DE that is a combine warrior but too stiff in the bend to feel fully natural.

God dang SJ, you’re a Pollyanna and I love you for it. Need to get me a pair of those rose colored glasses you got. Send me the link.
Your observations on Liam and Solo are head scratching. Also you being second most confident in Hass seems strange.

I think he’s great but at this point in time still a freshman and looks like a freshman. We are talking about confidence factor today, he’s clearly going to get better as the season progresses. He's a bit head down and go, shows in his assist numbers. Let’s see how he looks in Maui when the floor becomes a lot smaller and they’re forced into the half court. I don’t think some realize how many junk buckets this team has gotten playing at home against 4 320+ overmanned teams. So much of whats been seen isn’t replicable against really good teams. These teams we’ve played, all other top 30 teams are beating by 40, which can disillusion you to expectations.

Confidence today - AK because he’s AK, Hassan is a BE 6man of the year, and Tarris is a man child and super talented.

Liam is a freshman who’s feasted against bad teams, will be a much different experience in Maui. I have no idea how he will respond. Crossing fingers.

He looks better than most freshman and his size and rebounding are critical along with everything else, but he will get better. He’s no worry.

Do you ever have anything positive to say? You have got to be one of the most negative people on this board. You speak like you’re either DH or that you sit by his side telling us constantly what he thinks .

2 days ago Marquette sucked and now your singing their praises and saying we have no shot against their guards Head bang

Plenty. Would even say majority. Being objective isn’t thinking the whole thing is perfect all the time. That's honestly pretty boring if you ask me. Season is a journey - I’m actually really excited to see what DH makes with these ingredients and grateful to be a fan of such an amazing program.

You don’t have to read it ;).

Being objective is one thing, your negativity is beyond objective.

You’re right, I do not have to read your comments and generally I skip over them. However, when I see someone else reply to one of your ridiculous rants it just gets old;)

You must really hate sports radio or TV. Because what goes on isn’t the Pom Pom waving you clearly expect. Hopefully I can buy you a beer in San Antonio and we hug this out in April. I give good hugs.
