In many ways the AAC long term has the wind to its back. They are big in metro areas, which are growing.
if you get a competent program builder in these places they can take off. What they are missing is basketball tradition and football is king in many of these locations. So basketball can have challenges due to geography, while football flourishes.
So would you rather them schedule 150-200 teams (keep in mind how few programs care to play ECU OOC; this really matter be close to the best they can do) and get blown out, and that’ll somehow make our conference metrics stronger? We're complaining because they're not only bad, but also a serial terrible scheduler. That combination kills metrics, which impacts everyone. If Aresco pulled his head out of his P6, he could fix this.
As with my prior analogy... you broke up with your girlfriend... you’re in the process of moving out and in with a better girl...yet you’re still complaining about the ex. It’s all but over. Move on. This ongoing bitching is pointless. And again, we are done with the AAC... none of this matters anymore...
UConn has decided to not play a league schedule this year??
When was that decision made??
The AAC will survive and while it's a football and baseball strong league, the basketball competition has not lied down and played dead for UConn the past few years
Basketball will help itself by simply mandating a reasonable minimum standard for OOC scheduling. There are too many schools perennially killing the metrics of the conference by scheduling horrifically.
Case in point - right now, 3 of the 5 worst OOC schedules in Kenpom nationally are in the AAC - SMU is DEAD LAST (353), Tulsa (351), Tulane (349). Wichita is bad this year (314), but that's abnormal for them. ECU and USF actually improved from years past this year, but this needs to be fixed for everyone.
Still affects us this year, thus the complaining is valid for the time being. As with my prior analogy... you broke up with your girlfriend... you’re in the process of moving out and in with a better girl...yet you’re still complaining about the ex. The schedule is done. It’s not changing. It is what it is. Endure. It won’t be an issue going forward. I just don’t get what people are getting out of crying over spilled milk.Still affects us this year, thus the complaining is valid for the time being.
