Actually, it's mostly that he's been a very effective point guard so far. Playing very confidently against CP3.

I thought Dyson played very well tonight. 7 points on 2/2 shooting, 3 assists, very good defense, and a +10. Dyson's NBA career so far has kind of been like his junior year at UConn. He doesn't try to do to much and just lets his ability take over.

The Clippers are a cool team to watch. Nice seeing them not suck up the Staples Center any more. That JD had a pretty good game and was solid bodes well for him going forward.

what is he - 6'3"? does he have a good enough handle to be the PG? i've not seen him enough lately. i'd love to see him make it tho, even as an Ollie type of reserve...

Watched the second half of the game yesterday (missed the first), and his handle looked very loose - he never turned it over while I was watching, but Eric Bledsoe from the Clips was hounding him and it often felt like he might be forced into a turnover. However, when he got into the offense and got screens and was making reads, he looked pretty good. He got to one loose ball 30 feet from the basket, and in an unsettled situation, got all the way to the rim for 2. He actually buried another 3 that was nullified when they called one of those charges I hate -- when the defender steps into the path of the passer after the ball is gone and they still call it. Small sample, but it looked more like a true jumper and less like the standstill push shot that he had in college.

And then on defense he was working really hard - fighting over every screen and working to stay with Chris Paul when he was matched up with him. As you would expect from someone with a 10-day contract.

Edit, seen it on his twitter. who knows if its guaranteed, I remember Jeff signed for 2 years with the Rockets but it wasn't guaranteed. Either way still great to see that he's making a good impression and the hard work is paying off.

The most annoying point his critics make is that he never won an NCAA game.

As if it were his fault that AJP tore his ACL in 2008, or as if the then 23-1 UConn team would have lost a 1 v. 16 game if he didn't get inured in 2009.

...And he did everything in his power down the stretch of the 08 tourney game against SD to get the W while the rest of the team played tight as . He was constantly attacking and getting to the line in those last few minutes.

Good point. He hit the two FTs to tie it at the with 10 seconds left at the end of regulation, and hit two more to give them the lead with 9 seconds left in the OT.

14 pts on 4-9 shooting (6-6 FT) in 28 minutes isn't something to sneeze at.

"....growing list of quitters" is right on the money willie99! Props to Jerome. I really didn't expect this; and I hope all of his persistence and hard work pays off. Kevin Ollie is the perfect example of "staying power" over "star power". Find your niche and hold on tight Jerome!

Unless we signed Kevin Durant, no way in the world we were going to the NCAA Tournament in Dyson's freshman year. His junior year he was in civvies. That left two years where he possibly could have won one - his sophomore year when AJ tore his ACL and his senior year, when the team came unglued.

I have no problem with people expressing disappointment with his senior year and Jerome's role in our downward spiral. But it was a team effort - and if you are going to blame Dyson for that, then you should give him his share of the credit for how much the team improved between the time he stepped foot on campus in 2006 and the No. 1 ranking we held when he got hurt two years later. It wasn't all him - AJ got much better, Thabeet got much better, etc., but it wasn't all him that the team was bad as a senior.

I'll say this - Dyson takes way, way, way more heat on this board than Marcus Williams, a guy who was a part of two preseason No. 1 national championship contenders and couldn't keep himself eligible and on the court for the entire season for either of them due to his own stupidity/laziness. Thank goodness we won in 2004 with a thin backcourt in spite of him. But he threw some fancy passes so people remember him fondly.

I remember people calling for Marcus to start over Taliek by December of 2004. And then...he flunked off the team.

I don't have quite the animus for him as you do. They won in 2004. They didn't in 2006, but that wasn't because of Williams. They lost in 2006 because they didn't have AJP. Still, to miss half a season due to laptops was inexcusable.

Marcus is the one prominent player we've had who I just don't like, period. You flunk off a national championship team as a freshman (have we ever had another freshman get himself ineligible after one semester - ever - I mean how hard is it?), and then with a clear bright and sunny chance to try to redeem yourself personally staring yourself in the face going into your junior year, you try to hock stolen laptops, presumably to replenish your donut stash. Just unforgivable, in my opinion. Missing the first one should eat at you, if you have any pride or care about the team or anyone besides yourself. Yet the person on that team who takes the most heat as an individual is Rudy Gay, a guy who actually managed to keep himself eligible and in uniform for 100 percent of his collegiate seasons, not 33 percent.

I said this at the time, but I really wanted UConn to leave his ass on the bench in civvies in 2006 and try to win with Austrie. Team played harder with Austrie. Now that was partly because they felt like there was less margin for error and they needed to dig in more on every possession, but I also think it was partly because Marcus was just the lazy and aloof type and the team followed his lead. We probably wouldn't have won with Austrie either (although the tournament field in Maui was tougher than our regional), but I would have enjoyed rooting for the team more.

He deserves most the blame for the 09-10 season. He knew that season wasn't going to be good because we lost alot of players (i will give that team credit for beating at the time #1 Texas) so he was thinking about his pro future and began to huck up alot of bad poorly shots which really killed are season. He should have passed the ball more to Stanley!! The guy got benched his last regular season game because he was playing like crap.But all in all that was the past (even though it is hard to forget) I have to wish him luck. Even though i know that Hornets (for now) contract he just signed is NOT guaranteed,and the Hornets (for now) could draft or trade for his position and he will be the odd man out in training camp and will get cut and return back with the TULSA 66ers where he belongs. Good luck Jerome and thanks for the 09-10 season! Should have gave the ball more to the real star on the team that year Stanley "Sticks" Robinson!!

Should have kept doing this more and we probley would have won more games!
