From talking with Jerome at the Hartford Pro AM, I think there is a chance that he now recognizes some things he needed to change but until recently either did not identify them (despite being told repeatedly by the coaches) or did not have the maturity to change. The D League kind of gives guys a dose of reality and a wake up call - I take Jerome at his word he is now prepared to do certain things differently.

I think if he truly focuses now on serious game prep and spending time on improving weaknesses in his game rather than just running up in down in street ball doing what he already does well - then he could be step up and see some playing time.

Contrary to what many on this board imply it was never personal between Jerome and me. I thought he was wasting his God given talent and I basically said so - he knows that and today probably agrees with me. Make no mistake, he usually played hard, but he was not disciplined when it came to game prep both on and off the court.

been gone awhile ... business ... but loyalty to UConn hoops & Calhoun has never wavered (I've been as crritical as anyone of Calhoun over the years but the guy runs a clean program under ridiculous pressure ... and I do not dismiss elements of 'conspiracy theories' surrounding the constant attempts at Calhoun take-downs .... it is a dirty envious cynical world .. that is the human way).

Have always been a big fan of Dyson. Because he obviously is so 'hard-headed' you just want the guy to finally 'wake-up' ... but his 'heart' has always been there. Good luck Jerome!

I don't think anyone on this board ever thought it was personal since, well, you have no personal relationship with him.

True, Jerome doesn't owe me anything. I will say for the first time; I do believe he has turned certain lapses around. He always played hard and Calhoun liked that but he did not always prepare diligently. He knows that now and has some regrets - I agree with Coach - he just needs to commit every day to doing things the right way and move forward.

Thankfully, Jerome no longer feels like some of you do; he now recognizes he needs to consistently take a professional approach to the game - lesson learned!

The people who were his true friends then - called him on some stuff - and he now understands that. The folks who were more into a temporary good time are the ones who were not his true friends. Jerome now has the maturity to recongize that.
