Well, he makes a big error calling Dolson "burly"! She is a lean machine now!

And "moving/keeping Dolson away from the basket" won't help much. Stef is deadly from 16 feet in.

He also has Stewart starting and Doty off the bench.

I thought the same thing but Steph 3.0 is powerful player. The bulk vs. stamina tradeoff is a huge plus for her. She's a nightmare matchup.

How is that an error? Even with the weight loss, she is still physically imposing, much moreso than the slighter Stewart.

In spite of the oppses, he's a good, clean writer who offers information about strategies and playing that I really appreciate.

Peters is Duke's leading rebounder, and stats show she has fouled out 3 times this season. UConn should try to get her in early foul trouble. Williams is a terrific scorer, but she has only 14 assists. Seems like she does not find the open 3-pt shooter too often.

So is Stef 3.0.

Definition of burly from Dictionary.com:
bur·ly

[bur-lee] Show IPA
adjective, bur·li·er, bur·li·est.
1.
large in bodily size; stout; sturdy.

Does this apply to Dolson...I would say yes.

Dolson has a nice shot from 16 feet but she is much more effective around the basket. Also, when she is 16 feet from the basket she is not going to draw any fouls from her defender and she is not going to pick up many offensive rebounds. So all in all, having Dolson away from the basket is a benefit to the opponent.

This analysis strikes me as right on...the commenter realizes Williams will be one-on-one with Stef, and that a key component will be their ability to defend Breanna one-on-one with a player that suffers in physical matchups...couldn't agree more. I, too, think this analysis doesn't seem to credit Stef with her new quickness and stamina...something that worked heavily in Williams favor in past.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I'd call her sculpted now, she is a tall women but not "large" anymore. And I think of stout as a delicious beer - obviously not Stef.

She is still one of the, if not the most, durable and forceful posts in the nation, despite her weight loss. No matter what you call her she can still be a bruiser down low and that is a total compliment. She still has the size and power to be able to body up any post in the nation, including Griner.

I have tremendous respect for Dolson. IMO, she is the key to how far UCONN goes this year, despite the offense being built around the three point shot.

The key to the game is that Duke hasn't played anybody yet.
Remember 'Cuse was 15 and 1 against nobodies and was never a serious threat to win the game.

Not true at all, especially, when Stewart is , also, in. She probably shoots over 60% on those 12-16 footers. What some missed in her last game against Syracuse was that she really wasn't in a classic low post but more of a tilted high post position. She was setting up well outside the lane to the side. She hit two or three of jumpers from that position, too. She is good in the low post but that is relatively easy for many teams to pack in against her because she remains in a fixed location. Out of the high post or the low wide post she has space to move and cut to the hoop in catch and shoot options.
