But football drives the bus and our lack of support for our football program is something that is holding us back from getting a spot at the big boy table. Withdrawing support and putting it back into sports that don't drive the bus isn't helping the University. At. All.
 
I'd keep the tickets. We're amongst the big boys now. Next year should be fun.

If you really think THAT'S what's holding them back, then I don't know what to say except I disagree.
 
The Rent would fill up if the product on the field were more fun to watch. All the PR in the world isn't enough to overcome a bad football team.

It's not THE thing holding us back. But if you think not showing up to football games is doing anything but hurting, I fear you are mistaken.

It's a free country and you have a right to your opinion. But a true fan of the program, one that wants better for the team doesn't give up his season tickets. If you want to voice your displeasure, write letters, send emails, call local media. But giving up your tickets doesn't send that message.

Look at the Whalers. They were bought by a local jackoff that used the team as an ego boosting toy. He cut way back on PR and outreach and put a lousy product on the ice. Fans stayed away in droves. The fans sent a message - improve the team. However, the message received by the rest of the world was "Hartford doesn't support their team." Didn't matter that when the Whale was good they outdrew the Bruins.

By giving up your tix, what you are saying is you agree that UConn doesn't deserve to be in a better conference.
 
quoit, I'm saying by retaining PP/GDL the AD/president/board of trustees - and let's not leave Mr. McHugh out of the retain PP decision - the SCHOOL doesn't want to do whatever it takes to be in a better conference. Why subsidize that?

Look at all the coaching whirlwind in the past 72 hours. We, meanwhile, are whistling past the graveyard by playing it safe, doing what "the book" says and not firing someone after two years who is clearly not up to the job and has a long RECENT track record of failure. UConn 2013 = Syracuse 2004.

In 2004, GDL was nominally "relieved of offensive coordinator duties" but still had all the power he had before. Unless GDL is COMPLETELY divorced from this program, there is no hope.

And BTW to the poster who said GDL "is out recruiting, you can't undercut him", welcome to the big time. Too many stories to recount this week of coaches finding out about changes, including their own firings, while recruiting.

I want P gone as much as anyone and I'm not ready to agree with that statement. But back to your OP. I say you are hurting yourself most of all. What are you going to do next fall on game weekends that will be as much fun as going to the game?

I'm on the 23 yard line. But if you wanted a chairback between the 35's you could get it. It's not like hoops where you need a ton of points to sit in the middle.

I have connections to the first row seats on both sides of the stadium. Only problem is I don't own any one of those tickets. One of row of seats is behind an opponent's seats. Get to harass the bench. Dude has 12 seats.

The issue is not that the TEAM is Bad, it is that the coaches who called the shots are bad and making the TEAM boring and almost unwatchable if that is a word. No hope with the offensive scheme that was concocted this past season. GDL made it too easy for the DC on the opposing teams.
