Duke Post Game Thread

Can anyone explain Hurley head to head with Roger Ayres ? He had a serious face but it didn’t SEEM confrontational because I’d imagine that’s a dangerous move lol I am just confused at what happened.
Seeing that the red rubbed Hurley’s belly before Hurley lightly went forehead to forehead with him I’ll go out on a limb and say it wasn’t confrontational and that they have a friendly history.

If you go back and watch the setup to Demary’s second FT attempt, the players on the floor for Duke looked like they were orchestrating a Chinese fire drill. Arms pointing left and right and up and down, front and back. Might’ve been a good idea to use your final timeout there, but what do I know?

Risk of a timeout is that you then have to get the ball inbounds, and it might end up in the hands of someone you don’t want shooting the foul shots (Sarr or Ngongba). At no point before the turnover did it really look like they were in trouble. Sarr had it briefly but nobody was close enough to foul (Ross tried - but had too much ground to cover). When it got to Cayden, he was unguarded and had two wide open players ahead of him. If you call a timeout there, you lose that advantage.

There's just so many great videos and this may top them all. Hurley's mom dropping bombs, his dad not realizing what just happened and then dropping bombs and the awesome dude behind them losing his mind...

Speaking of flags... we had a lot of wind around here in Feb/Mar, so my flag looks like it's been through Gettysburg. My birthday is this week and I asked for a new flag.

So the question is, do I keep the ratty old one flying, which is at this point an embarrassment to our relatively well-heeled neighbors, or do I switch it out to a beautiful new one in time for Friday's game?

Let’s see how the game goes before y switch

And, as others have mentioned, we got our first win against UCLA...needed that scalp for the collection.
Lot of Hurley love this AM - nevermind those calling him best coach in the game, some saying if he wins it he could be up for GOAT given how difficult it is in the portal era.

How is that even a question? Screw your neighbors.

The JRoss "On-Off" metrics for the NCAAT are insane. Look at our NetRtg with him on the court. Can't say enough about his defense in the postseason.

I have no idea what all of that means, but I know I texted my son midway through the second half amazed at the effort Ross saying "Ross giving everything he has!". At a time where I thought we were in big trouble, I was so proud of him.

If you really want to enjoy your day read our opponents message boards.
Providence: They hate us but like the money UConn is getting them
Syracuse: They hate us but respect what UConn is doing.
North Carolina: It's like Christmas Day for them. They hate us, but hate Duke way more.

Lots of laughs.
And over at SJU they think they softened up the pukes for us. the best is that the pukes think they got jobbed by the refs.

I’ve never had one but I don’t think you’re supposed to poop your pants for the prep. I believe a toilet is recommended.
When it's time for you to get one, buy some Depends or sit on a towel wherever you go. Once the spigot opens, it's hard to completely close.

This is a really good point I hadn't considered or heard raised. Everyone is talking about Boozer's pass, but if Scheyer doesn't plant two big guys deep then he doesn't even have that pass to make
It isn't that complicated. 10 seconds is a lot of time. If UConn fouls immediately, they'll still have at least one possession, but if you can pass the ball over, around, or through the pressure and run out the clock, the game is over. If you just "hold" the ball, expecting a foul, as Raf said, you risk a held ball and UConn had the possession arrow. There is no one play there.

Much like 2014 Michigan state, I took a shower at half time to wash off the first half stink. I said to myself while thinking of that rough first half, that 2004 Duke/2014 MSU IS HAPPENING again. I also thought of msu could come back from 19 down two days ago no reason UConn couldn't. I'll be sure to hold off on showering on Saturday till half time.
Burned sage at halftime here...
