Duke is horrendous

Does anyone have the info on what the major player rankings on Duke’s roster is?
Was curious so looked it up earlier, 9 players ranked between #12 and #49 coming out of high school. It's now down to 8 players since Jalen Johnson left school.

I mean you have to consider how many people are watching just to see when duke loses

The NCAA wants Duke in the tournament because, one way or another, people watch. They don’t deserve it, but it is what it is.
It's not though. Again, Kentucky draws as many eyeballs as Duke does and was a 1 seed in an NIT tournament one year.

This isn't hard. They aren't making. They're 11-11 and have a Virginia win. Meanwhile, they have many bad losses. It's over for them.

Yet the media still rocks their nutz
They do? I've hardly noticed this year, to be honest. I'm skeptical it's been that big a deal because they suck. The news has mostly been the drama around them sucking. Which makes sense.

And the media rocked the nuts of Kentucky and UNC for years too and when their teams sucked they didn't make the NCAAs despite the nut-rocking.

.-.
Right now, on espn's basketball page, the lead story is, "Bubble Watch 2021: Is Duke done?"

Everyone and their grandma knew this before the loss to UNC so yes, the media rocks puke's nuts.

Isn't it reasonable to be interested in a team like Duke not making the tournament for the first time since 1993? This is obviously a story. And they had the issues with their top prospect.

Nothing about this is surprising. Or "rocking Duke's nuts." It's just the media making money however they can.

And Duke is done barring an ACCT title.

I think everything you said is accurate, and it all equates to rocking puke's nuts.

ACC tournament bracket.

Duke gets BC.
If they win, they get Louisville, who swept them this year.
If they win, they get Florida State, who they didn't play.

Frankly, most likely outcome by far is 1-1. 2-1 is crazy lucky. But even 3-1 isn't getting them in.

Interesting, for a puke fan. The BC game is a no-brainer. Duke lost to Louisville last week in OT. FSU just lost to ND. Go figure.

They are actually 120 to 490 until Duke offers them then they become Micky D’s

Correct on the first part. But 1-1 gets them in. All the committee needs to do is justify it. They can't do that with the NET ratings but they CAN with "other" power ratings.

Kentucky winning the SEC tournament is what would really suck. They are out, otherwise. The probability of that happening all comes down to whether refs are willing to call all the fouls they will commit just like every team the squid has will do when they are in danger of losing.

If Duke gets in then the committee loses all credibility.

You're just wrong here about Duke. Like, way outside of reality.

If that’s true then Coach K is a way better coach than we’ve realized
Five titles with all sub-100 recruits. Amazing!

I remember Zionn and Irving and Tatum being like 200 or so and then everyone was like, "Well, if Duke likes them they must be good." Weird that the ended up making it to the league. Who could have guessed!

Honestly, I'm not sure K or the NCAA wants them in this year. They have to know how bad they are, and being Duke, whoever get them in the first round will be more hyped to play them, blood in the water. Does K or the NCAA really want everyone to see their golden child get potentially thrashed in the 1st round? Might be less embarrassing and protecting of Duke's image to leave them out.

Oh. So now if they don't make it it's also evidence of an NCAA conspiracy to protect Duke.

No matter what happens, Duke was protected by the NCAA!

But is it really hard to believe the NCAA protects them? They have more than proved they are willing to look the other way and cut their blue bloods a lot of slack for infractions that they otherwise rake programs over the coals for.

I think we're talking about two different things. Programs like Duke have certainly had the NCAA look the other way in terms of long-term punishment.

The the selection committee is a bit different and they've proven in the past that they wouldn't take a blue-blood that was borderline. The selection committee is a variety of ADs and commissioners from around the country.

Point taken. But I do wonder if K himself would rather not make the tourney this year.

If they somehow get to the ACC Final, that’s four consecutive games and they’ll be in.

I wouldn't be surprised. He has an easy excuse to explain why he missed out, so it won't hurt him recruiting.

I see that UNC is in by most accounts, but looking at their tournament resume, they have one really good win, over FSU, and one meh win over Louisville but by a big margin. Both of those games were at home. They have a bad home loss to Marquette, and a meh loss to Syracuse. Other than that it's chalk. An early loss to Syracuse in the ACC tournament and they're 13-10 overall. Syracuse's resume would be stronger.

In a just world Duke, UNC and Kentucky would all miss the tourney this year.

That's a different team, resume-wise, right? They'd have to have beaten Louisville-FSU and a third team. You'd probably look at their blind resume and it wouldn't be so bad.

But this team just got trounced by 20 by a mediocre UNC team.
