Just found this article. Not sure if its ever been posted, but it compares this past KY team to some of our best teams. Lost a little respect for Duffy's basketball knowledge. He gives them a frontcourt advantage over our '04 team, and thinks they'd beat the '99 team. I'd say that '99 would win; based on experience and sure will. I also think the '04 team would win by more than 2 pts, and was a much better team. Anyway here's the link:

He gives intagibles and guard play to UConn in the 99 match up and has Kentucky winning by 5 pts because there is a big disparity in the front court talent. Makes sense.

There was a big disparity in front court talent vs Duke. How did that one turn out?

That Duke team was the best team in college basketball history going into the final four. Somehow, I don't think the result would be any different if this years wildcat team went up against our huskiness of '99.

I actually think our 2004 team was the best UCONN team ever. they had so many ways to hurt you it wasn't funny. I can't imagine Kentucky's front court handling that front court which was big, quick and strong. Plus gordon could shoot the lights out as could a couple of others. They would have won comfortably. The 99 team was different but also good. that would have been a very interesting game. More aobut who could have imposed their will on the other guy, I think.

Given the relative ages and experience of those UConn teams compared to this year's Kentucky team, I suspect the two UConn title teams would have dispatched Kentucky without as much drama as might be expected. I actually think the 2004 team would have beaten them soundly.

I believe that the '04 team was more talented but I'm not sure they were a better team. The '99 team had a toughness and determination to win like few teams I've ever seen in any sport. If the '04 team had this quality they would have looked stronger (when compared to their opposition) than UNLV's title team.

This gives a little snap shot into the draft stock of players on the UConn 1998-99, Duke 1998-99 and Kentucky 2011-12 teams. Imagine if Kobe played on that Duke team?

Brand #1 (Duke)

Davis #1 (Kentucky)

Gilchrist #2 (Kentucky)

Battier #6 (Duke)

Hamilton #7 (UConn)

Langdon #11 (Duke)

Maggette #13 (Duke)

Avery #14 (Duke)

Jones #18 (Kentucky)

Teague #29 (Kentucky)

Voskuhl #33 (UConn)

El-Amin #34 (UConn)

Lamb #42 (Kentucky)

Miller #46 (Kentucky)

Only 21.428571428571 % are UConn players on this list. UConn was a 9 ½ point dog against Duke arguably one of the best college teams ever. Odds tell you Duke probably wins 7-8 out of 10 head to head matchups with UConn that year on paper hence Khalid’s “We Shocked the World” quote. In reality in a 1 game setting with old basta** Calhoun at the reigns I think it becomes closer to 6 out of 10 for Duke.
One thing upon reflection that I undervalued is the fact that old basta** Calhoun is the guy I want coaching in any National Championship game. As a matter of fact if a had the 357 magnum “snub nose” to my temple and if I lost the game my head would be blown off… it is the old basta** Calhoun who I would want coaching on the side lines to win the game.
He should fulfill his contract and get back to the Championship game 1 more time. Now that would be a real honest ending. My bet is he won’t QUIT now. I don’t think he is a quitter. That’s what I respect about him. Put the next coach on ICE.

Total bunk. If you go down to the bible belt you would get a different answer. JC would come out ahead of the devil 10 for 10. You're just going to the wrong sources.

Have you ever convinced a bible belt pastor to become an atheist leader or an atheist leader to become a bible pelt pastor? Now that would be challenging and a fun exercise that many think would be futile. Its is challenges that make life somewhat interesting at times.

On I95 in NC there is a billboard on one side of the highway for Cafe Risque an all nude dancers bar and on the other side of the highway is a billboard that "Jesus Saves". Most of the people down here take their churches seriously, but there is more than one Jimmy Swaggert's out there.

I've never been to Cafe Risque. Do you recommend a visit? Does the 6 inch (no contact) rule apply?

Taking the 5th on that 1 right? ;)
