Apparently the writer has better ideas.

Im not sure, but i think people can work on more than 1 thing during the course of an off season.

The most athletic and fundamentally sound center of the past 25 years.

Hakeem can relate to the speed and power of Drummond better than any one else. Whether that translates in to effective coaching remains to be seen.

Didn't realize the players payed for the coaching themselves, seems like something the team would encourage by paying for it.

I feel like drummond will benefit from this immensely. He is an eager learner and much less of a prima Donna than amare and Dwight. He already affects the game at a high level without much offensive skill. Imagine a jump hook!

If the NBA let teams pay for things like this, teams would start doing all sorts of other stuff to circumvent the salary cap.

I doubt they have $100k laying around somewhere to pay him...

No, but the Uconn athletic department could pay for it and use it to improve their game (within the limits of player/coach contact hours).

In the NBA with frequent trades its probably best that the player invests in himself. It may seem a small amount but if the player leaves (e.g. free agency) a team would have invested into someone else's gain. Another thing is that if a player (or person) invests in themselves, spending their own money, it tends to bring more individual responsibility and interest in succeeding and certainly less waste. Many parents can relate to this when it comes to college tuition.

in 5 years Drummond if healthy will be putting up 20/10 a night while being the best big in the game.
