So, Drummond has officially enrolled and Bradley has made a very noble sacrifice by giving up his scholarship for the year. I know that all reports have indicated that Drummond has very good grades and a more than high enough SAT score, but does anyone fear that the NCAA is going to drag their feet on this one just because they can and they are pissed about the reshuffling of scholarships to get around the sanctions?

After the Cam Newon ruling and the Miami football player penalties, I hope not.

What would be the hold up? Taking the scholarship away may not be fair but it's definitely not against the rules. I'm pretty sure Drummond would be eligible considering he graduated high school with decent grades.

Sorry if it's already been covered, but do any of you closet NCAA lawyers know if Bradley's grades or successful progress towards graduation is factored into our APR calculation if he is not on a basketball scholarship?

The APR is calculated by allocating points for eligibility and retention -- the two factors that research identifies as the best indicators of graduation. Each player on a given roster earns a maximum of two points per term, one for being academically eligible and one for staying with the institution. A team's APR is the total points of a team's roster at a given time divided by the total points possible. Since this results in a decimal number, the CAP decided to multiply it by 1,000 for ease of reference. Thus, a raw APR score of .925 translates into the 925 that will become the standard terminology.

Probably another NCAA loophole Calhoun drives a truck through. My guess is that Bradley will be on ship after this season.......so he will graduate on ship.

There isn't much the NCAA can do on this particular issue as it relates to AD and MB sacrificing his scholarship. UConn followed the letter of the rules. The NCAA could subject themselves to litigation/lawsuit by AD if they did not clear him (all indicators are there are no issues unlike the potential Quincy Miller transcript issues). It is worth noting however that the NCAA is aware of various opinions being disseminated by the media (that is human nature). UConn in general right now is under a higher degree of scrutiny in the eyes of the NCAA therefor they will be looking for any potential infractions they can use against the school if they feel pressure from outside sources. So if the actual recruitment of AD does not raise any red flags UConn should be ok. Hopefully Quincy Miller will be cleared also.
