10 pts, 8 rebs, 1 stl, 1 blk in eight minutes.

At what point does this kind of production stop being something I feel the need to post about and just become what everyone expects from him?

whenever I come to make these posts either you or Gurleyman has beat me to the punch, lol. That onehanded putback dunk he just had was ridiculous

He is coming off a donut scoring-wise (which IS unexpected from him these days). So he had some pent up frustration tonight.

His development accelerated way faster than I though it would. I thought frequent double-doubles would come in year three. I might have to apologize to the St Thomas More coaching staff - I criticized them for not having him ready for college, but turns out he was ready for the NBA.

Wonder what's the fewest minutes to get to a dbl-dbl in NBA history.

You have to figure Wilt did it a couple times before the anthem hit "rocket's red glare".

Moses Malone was famous for playing volleyball on the backboard until he scored, so if he had a couple of those sequences early, he could have gotten there quickly.

I swear, Kyle Singler took a shot from the top of the key when Drummond was standing under the basket with nobody within 15 feet of him. The Bucks mangled their defense and left him completely alone and Singler shot anyway. Clanged it off the front rim so Drummond couldn't get the rebound either.

Brandon Knight also had him rolling to the hoop for an easy lob or dumpoff pass, but instead tried to throw some crap up over Sanders and got stuffed.

Feed the big guy folks! He's hungry tonight.

They better go to him, he looked tired in the 2nd, but should be a bit more fresh coming out of halftime.

He had a donut the last game because he only touched the ball twice and played only 14 minutes. He plays with the worst passing point guard in the league and has zero plays designed for him. He is already the Pistons best player and it's scary to think of his upside.

I guess the Pistons are intent on tanking instead of fighting for that 8 seed. No sign of AD.

Unreal. He's going to have a great shot at rookie of the year.

Lillard pretty much has that sewn up, sadly. But Andre is looking like a strong second.
We're halfway through the year. You don't think he'll get some consideration if he keeps doing this ? He put up 18 & 18 in like 30 minutes. 18 & 18.

If Drummond kept getting 18+18 a night, sure - but tonight was an outlier. The same way his zero points in his last game was an outlier in the other direction. Unless the Pistons have an injury and Drummond starts playing 35-40 minutes a night, he'll probably end the year averaging around 8+8 or 9+9. Awesome for a 19 year old playing limited minutes, but Lillard is averaging 18+6 (assists).

Lillard could get hurt or go into a massive second half slump, so it isn't a done deal yet. But the narrative has taken root amongst the media - Lillard is ROY, and Beal, Drummond, MKG and Davis are jockeying for the silver.

If he were to keep doing that, then yes. But he doesn't get enough play, and I don't think he'll get enough. Also, unless you're a numbers guy, people haven't paid attention. And Lilliard's averaging 18 ppg and 6.5 apg. Just a really good year.

I continue to believe we would have been the best team in America this year if he had returned for his sophomore year.

I guess I'm working under the assumption that at some point they will just have to start playing him more. I've never understood why he hasn't been playing more, and he's improving so quickly. It's just an incredible liability to leave a guy who can rebound at that rate on the bench. It is the Pistons though.

Why is he better in the nba than he was for us? Haha, good to see him having success.

Spacing has helped him a lot (even with a poor spacing team like Detroit). That and the fact they allow more physicality in the NBA.

I think he would do a lot worse with the starting unit, because Knight is a worse PG than Bynum. Better player, worse PG.

Teams are starting to adjust and stay on him a bit more. Without Charlie/Daye hitting from outside, that second unit is going to be in trouble.

I believe they're bringing him along slowly quite deliberately with his development in mind. They don't want him overworked and playing overly tired. You could see how winded he was at the end of the first half (though I don't get why he doesn't start the second half). Have to say, the approach is working well for Drummond on a per minute basis at the cost of overall stat stuffing. He is building confidence, and the Pistons are still in position to grab some lottery balls.
