I think most of that is largely accurate. He's got some definite skills with good height/length and solid athleticism, but certainly has some spots that need improvement as well.

The one thing I didn't like was the "history of character issues". Why, because he decommitted from Texas way back when? There haven't been any problems at all his whole time here. Inconsistent, yes, but hardly "character issues".

yea I didn't like that part about the character issues either, there's never been any reports of him being in trouble or anything like that, seems like the media had him labled as somewhat of a flake because of his recruitment but he was keeping everything lowkey, seemed like most of the noise was coming from the outside. They also pointed out his interior defense when in those clips he was going against 4s and 5s. What is the point of showing him getting backed down and scored on by Patric Young, dude is like 270ls of all muscle, the only time you are going to see a SF built like that in the NBA is Bron and nobody is stopping him one on one.

All completely fair and very accurate depiction of his game... with one GLARING mistake:
HISTORY OF CHARACTER ISSUES?! Is this for real? Name one thing that DD has done that could be interpreted as a 'character issue'...

He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and was actually criticized by Calhoun and Ollie for being too 'nice' and not being assertive enough and not believing in himself.

Considering how accurate DraftExpress is with their scouting reports, this is really surprising and upsetting. It seems like they didn't really know much about him in this regard and translated his low assist numbers to a 'selfish attitude' and character issues. Quite a stretch.

We needed him to be our 3rd scorer all year for us to be a special team, and he finally was towards the end of the year... I'm glad he was selfish. Granted, his passing needs a lot of work, but to insinuate that low assist totals relate to character is dead wrong.

Really disappointed in @mike_schmitz for this one (Let's tweet @ him for an explanation on this one).

The idea that Daniels can shoot off the dribble is a myth . Other than that, it was interesting how they pointed out how poor at passing Daniels is. The worst passing sf since Al Thornton , that's not good.

He could be a steal in the draft. Looking at those tapes I didn't realize or appreciate what he brought to the team (i.e. how good he was). To me he is about 4-5 years away from making a solid contribution in the NBA. But with investment, skills/weight training and improved ball handling DD could have a very good and long career in the NBA.

I think come 2018-2019 DD will be an NBA baller with the upper level of players. He just can't lose confidence and has to work very hard (of course).

History of character issues? DeAndre is one of the nicest guy's you could ever meet.

Can't Shoot Off The Dribble???? Perhaps You Missed His Dirk Novitzki Like Dribble, Post, And Fade Away Jumpers He Used Against UK And UF In The Final Four. His BiggestIIssue Has Been Consistency, Which Should Improve With Added Physical Strength.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "shooting off the dribble," as it's regarded in these breakdowns, means driving while dribbling and pulling up to shoot. What you're describing is a post-up move, and they do cover it as one of his strengths.

They must have edited out "character issues" because I just read it twice and didn't see it.

On a side note, does anyone know anything about his brother? I had a long chat with DD's father Juan and he kept on talking about how his brother will be even better.

class of 2018, 5'11" but his arms are long as hell so it looks like he has alot of growing to do. as far as being better than DeAndre, I read on twitter an AAU coach from LA(not Trigonis) say the same thing.

maybe character issues equals his "softness" and inconsistency?

Inconsistent, yes, but I'm not sure where the idea comes from that he's soft.

Yeah, this is going to be DeAndre's problem in the NBA. He made his living as a stretch four in college, but he's not going to have that luxury in the pros. IMO, he just doesn't have the skill set to play the three in the NBA - he can't create for himself off the bounce, he's not a very good decision maker, and his handle is shaky. Unfortunately, he strikes me as a tweener at the next level - he has the build of a three and the skills of a four. If he's going to catch on, it's probably as a back-up power forward off the bench who can provide instant offense.

He doesn't finish through contact often. When he makes strong drives, it's when he gets a clear lane to the rim, or makes a move around someone on the perimeter.

Daniels not finishing through contact can be attributed to his lack of strength. There's a difference between being thin and being soft. The word "soft" connotes a lack of toughness. I've never seen that in DeAndre.

Yeah, they changed the last section of the weaknesses to "Inconsistency" when it said "Red flags" before.
