Keep an eye on this over the next several years.

ACL is easy. Next gen procedure is for cartilage and joint repair. They've been developing and perfecting this for at least five years.

I've had friends who have worked there and they all say the developmental side of the facility is more impressive than the athletes who walk (or limp) through there. MN

Little more background. Although Dr Andrews started in Birmingham, he works almost exclusively out of his Gulf Breeze, FL facility in the western panhandle.

His team does a ton of work for high school athletes at no cost.

From the article-

“The standard of care for athletes with these injuries has been microfracture surgery,” said Jordan, who joined the Andrews Institute after working 25 years as Florida State's athletic teams' doctor. “Although microfracture remains a safe and effective option for many patients, the published return to play rate of 60 percent for athletes is not what we would like.

"This is a breakthrough in getting us to 90-95-percent success. So if you have of 90-percent chance, it's a big deal. OATS transfers cartilage from one place to another. It is available to all patients, high school athletes, weekend warriors and active adults."

Further, Andrews Foundation has a joint venture with Harvard University on the study of injuries in youth sports - I sat in on the original kickoff a few years ago.

As you probably also know, it is the premier training facility for prospective Draftees to the NFL ... and probably a few other sports as well.

My contact is his head of Real Estate. This is the Taj Mahal of medical facilities. IT's amazing.

The injuries that used to end a career that now might mean a season are just incredible... and rehab times also seem to get shorter and shorter. It's astounding.

You know you're getting old when crap that used to be magical make believe happens every day. I still don't have my flying car yet though. They been promising me that stuff for eons.
