Doug McDermott wins ap player of the year

Receives 64 of 65 possible votes. The other vote went to Russ smith. Greg Marshall of Wichita st wins coach of the year with 44 votes. Other coaches receiving votes were Tony Bennett 13, Billy Donovan 6, and both Larry Brown and John Beilein received 1 vote. Surprised no Ollie votes wonder if they took tournament performance into consideration.

UConn came in 3rd in a "sub-par" conference and lost by 30 to UL on the final day of the season. I don't think COY considers the post season.

Don't really have a problem with that, McDermott deserved it and so did Greg Marshall. Ollie has out-coached everybody in his path during this tournament run, but during the regular season he wasn't quite on the level as the others.

No question McDermott deserves it. the rest of his team is not very good. He's the only high major impact player on the roster. Daniels and Boatright are both clearly better than any role player on Creighton. The next best player on Creighton is someone equivalent to Giffey.
