If you're asking about the Serah Williams vs Sanchez scuffle, things got spicy during a rebound attempt. ND's Sanchez was called for a foul on Serah and she was awarded two FTs. Both were also called for a technical foul with no FTs awarded.
The scuffle is allegedly due to the incident a little earlier where Sanchez got away with a couple of elbows to Ashlynn's sternum. Serah subbed in for Ashlynn and the festivities followed shortly thereafter. From what I saw, before the rebound scuffle, Sanchez elbowed Serah and, well...

If that is Kelis that hit the deck, I thought Serah's response was due to that, however either way, it was interesting to see the emotion come out of Serah. Reminds me of Shea, going way way back, where she might have gotten decked, and popped up ready to go, and I think a teammate did the "wrap" to her, just like Evina did to Paige, just so there was no further shenanigans.
 
I ABSOLUTELY love that Serah was spicy and had her teammates' back (as did Ayanna). Sanchez was being chippy and inappropriate earlier, elbowed Ash a few times, and I think someone mentioned in another thread, Ash tried to "give it back" but was overmatched. Serah was not. I can picture her saying "keep your elbows and your poor-losing frustration to yourself"... BAM!

Then of course Ayanna coming in right away - she's the LAST person any opponent would want to see coming at them - like Hulk Hogan going at Danny DeVito...

In fairness, earlier Serah hit Hidalgo with a forearm across the neck. Hidalgo kept moving with the ball, no call. Don't think it was intentional; Serah just playing hard. Basketball has become much more of a physical game; things happen. Some things are seen by refs, some not. This was a hard fought, emotional game, even if not a close game. UConn is bigger and stronger than most teams they play, and dish out plenty of physical stuff. They did against ND; I've no problem with that. It's silly to think that poor UConn is always getting battered by their opponents.

Really? I totally disagree. Teams that are overmatched talent wise often try to slow UConn down by playing overly physical. Other coaches even tell their players "foul all the time - refs won't call everything". Pushing, grabbing, impeding movement thru the lane - the one thing refs do call are illegal moving screens, but other than that, the amount of overly physical play against UConn by some teams is mind boggling.

I thought the reffing in the first half with ND was atrocious. Hidalgo fouls all the time, and rarely, if ever, gets called, and it wasn't just her. But we tooted in her general direction and poof... foul.

In the former AAC, games against UCF and ECU were rugby scrums. Horrible games to watch and I would pray for no UConn injuries. And BTW I watched the game again, especially in the 2nd half, and Sanchez was way more overly physical than necessary, even earlier when Serah was in and they played against each other in the post. Ash was overmatched against her in the post

For 40+ years, Geno has taught his teams to play tough defense trying not to foul. And over the years we've had teams who didn't fare as well against overly physical teams. Fortunately this team is not one of them. Pushing back is NOT physically battering our opponents.

I think Kelis was fouled by a different player who was running in for the rebound - I thought that was actually the more egregious foul on the play but was uncalled.

On the substitutions there at the end, during the game I thought Geno was actually subbing in Ash first (2:47) so she could score another basket (2:01) and get to double figures which she did, and then subbing Serah back in (1:09) for the same reason as she scored at 0:55, before the double T at 0:20.

Things were already spicy- at 9:00 minute mark of 4th, the two tangled again in similar fashion over boxing out on a rebound and starting shoving each other. I don’t know if any words were said to aggravate situation, but in my opinion, Serah played aggressively, and Geno probably has talked to her about toning it down. I like UConn being aggressive but it’s a thin line between that and playing bully ball. Just my opinion.

Serah is not a bully!
At the 9 minute mark Serah was trying to post up but Sanchez pushed, grabbed and pulled her, Serah turned around and pushed Sanchez away, words were exchanged but didn't amount to anything. Serah subbed out and returned with about 1 minute left, posted up again and Sanchez pushed and grabbed her arm, Serah pulled her arm away, Confronted Sanchez and the two had to be separated. They were both given technicals with Sanchez also receiving a personal foul...Basically a pillow fight. It's a war in the post and can get very aggressive, tempers flare, I myself like the fact tht she's aggressive it's better than being too passive, I thk Jamelle Elliott and Stacy "Bam Bam" Hansmeyer would agree. If you don't confront the bully in the school yard he'll take ur lunch money every day. Just my opinion.
And Geno did have a quick chat with her and he didn't seem too upset. Message sent ....play on.

After watching the game and the replay I am of the opinion that Serah re-entered the game late in the 4th quarter as an "enforcer." What Sanchez had been getting away with against Ashlynn was not acceptable at all and got away with it!!! So Serah was sent in on a mission. Why? Because Jana was unavailable. Would have loved to see Sanchez try those shenanigans against her.
But I agree with others, it should not have gone that far...the refs have no problem keeping an eye on Serah when she enters the lane to call her for a lane violation but they "missed" the Golden Domer giving Ashlynn multiple elbows while both were in the lane. And they chose not to review it after being alerted by the UConn bench.

Uh, not exactly. I believe her comment was not quite so erudite and way more street.

What I saw made me believe Geno set the whole thing up. He substituted a starter back in with a minute left in the game?? Then Geno told the team to run a play when the guard (K9, Kelis??) started to dribble out the clock. Then the little discussion between Yanna and Serah where it looked like Serah said she was guarding Sanchez.

But whatever, it was great to see the team taking care of each other. That attitude will be very important when the games get real.

I was going to say, where's Bam Bam when you need her. You beat me to it. I don't suppose she has any eligibility left.

Read that sentence you highlighted again. As with many here, your comments show a viewing of games thru blue-colored glasses. I've always thought that UConn teams were tough enough to handle whatever was thrown at them. Oh, and now Geno's telling Serah that he doesn't mind a little attitude from her. Why not? Post players bang at each other all the time.
