Mike DiMauro - you are an idiot. He talks about Hartford being the center of the state, being easily driveable for everyone, needing to offer an arena that has something special - then goes on to propose Harbor Yard. I'm sorry, but if the Civic Center drops to 11,000 seats you can forget: 1) big concerts; 2) uconn bball (why rent out a building with 1,000 extra seats); 3) nba preseason; 4) any hope of regaining professional sports; 5) conference tournaments.
But the biggest reason he is an idiot is he correlates # of seats with site lines. Guess what, you can have 11,000 seats with sightlines, or 19,000 with great site lines (e.g. MSG). Nobody disputes that the XL has to be upgraded, but reducing the capacity to 11k is a total waste, in my opinion.
