Gonna have to disagree with your disagreement, lol. Even the best of bigs have an adjustment to the college game. I think he will be very, very good in time. And I hope he can be an effective 5-10 mpg kind of player as a freshman... but I'm not getting my hopes up quite yet.

Very very excited about his potential as a passer.
You don't think he'll back up Sanogo next year? I would be pretty shocked if he didn't. We've had people on here saying he'll be redshirt, not gonna happen.

Gun to my head right now I'd say Sanogo is pushing 30 minutes a game and the other 10 are split between Akok and Johnson

Frenchy Tomlin used to write ‘French Toast’ on the back of his kicks. He was so smooth. We used to lose to Harding every year.

I don’t think Akok will play center.
It's where a lot of his minutes have been this year already. It's not ideal and hopefully he's back to the same player next year, but right now he's just not quick enough to guard most 4's on the perimeter

Akok is a tweener to some degree and therein lies the problem. Not quick enough to guard most 4's on the perimeter, and not strong enough, especially in the lower body, to guard 5's in the post. You can get away with him at the 5 for some spot minutes against certain teams, but not sure you can bank on a permanent role over a whole season. Run up against a team like Seton Hall or have to guard a guy like Watson from Providence for extended minutes and you are probably going to run in to trouble. Maybe if you had a beast of 4 you can swap defensive assignments with but we really don't have anyone like that on our roster.

Would be great though if Clingan could take the 5 spot while Sanogo moves to the 4.

Please stop with the red shirt speculation.

Recruits sign with UConn to play. If there were plans to red shirt someone it would have already been mentioned by the school or the recruit. If the school dropped a red shirt on a recruit just before the season started, they'd have a difficult time in future recruiting.
