State player of the year is no surprise, but how is he amongst the top 3 for national player of the year? Especially as a junior? Confused here.

Chet Holmgren ended up winning it. Not too surprised at that.

Not knocking, but I think it's understandable to be confused that a guy ranked around #50 as a junior is a top 3 finalist for player of the year in the country which also includes seniors.

It’s not understandable that this confuses someone. If you are confused, you’re taking both the award and the rankings far too seriously.
