Leopards don't change their spots. For better or worse Edsall is a control freak. I don't ever see him giving is OC a free rein.I'd assume this time around, Edsall would not handcuff the OC. Whatever.
Yup, his goal is 8-5. Baby steps.
I hope not....people here were just talking about not changing coaches every three or four years. I am confident this man can be successful here again and look forward to him being here for a long time. Forgive and remember the good times....they will be back. With the supposed buyout details in RE contract, are there any thoughts that he's just a placeholder to get the program back to a modicum of respectability and then go after a big name?
PP was a dumb hire. All Randy has to do is win, which he's proven he can. May polarize some of you BY's, but we all want to see the ship righted. He's not going to polarize the fan base.
Terrible. Boring, "safe" retread hire that looks totally small time and condemns this program to another defensive coach completely uninterested in modern explosive offense. This does nothing to excite or grow the fanbase.
Major opportunity squandered by Benedict.

Excellent.HCRE and Diaco are complete opposites in terms of player-coach relationship. The over/under on transfers has to be about 8.
I'm not sure you know what zero sum means.
(Hint, it doesn't mean you win 3x as much)
If its a donor driven choice, then you see where Uconn is financially. they had no choice and DB nor SH could possibly argue that RE is not an improvement over BD. so the donors had all the leverage. It is what it is. I highly doubt DB's dream hire is Randy Edsall.
Here's the thing for me...I appreciated the fact that RE built his teams from the lines out, knew that Uconn would never have a great passing game given the climate and ......
Please stop with the climate nonsense. We play most of our games in warm weather. We start at home in the summer and we travel south to play most of the AAC. Somehow Brady and Manning and Rodgers can throw the ball after we are done playing.
Can you define successful UConn FB?This really only confirms one thing for me, UConn and successful football just are never going to happen.
This move is a stopgap before we could sink to Kansas and Indiana (and Rutgers) level. This really only confirms one thing for me, UConn and successful football just are never going to happen.
Anything resembling respect from a national perspective of the sport. Something that may be targeted as a program with potential worth expanding a football centric conference for.Can you define successful UConn FB?
Very abstract and hard to measure.Anything resembling respect from a national perspective of the sport. Something that may be targeted as a program with potential worth expanding a football centric conference for.
I honest to god think our public perception is already below those two. At least they have major conference perception boost. With ESPN having quotas on the word "P5" in its studio these days, most people just assume they are playing at a higher level regardless. The way it looks rehiring an old coach like this is just the cherry on top. This move is a stopgap before we could sink to Kansas and Indiana (and Rutgers) level.
I think 18 seconds. It's hard not to be disappointed and starting off disappointed does not bode well. Damn, they fumbled again at the 1 yard line. I just cannot get past the uncanny ability to do less than the best thing every friggin time. Going to do my best to be positive.Prediction: The haters & naysayers will be back on the bandwagon within 18 months.
Another season of Diaco with a horrible offense or another failed coach will do that. If Edsall succeeds, program is saved. And Edsall gets a statue.I honest to god think our public perception is already below those two. At least they have major conference perception boost. Maybe, but with the cultural aspect of college football and recruiting territoriality our ceiling is low and made of marble. I'll be rooting for the team, one positive with Edsall I guess is that he's less likely to leave for another program??Another season of Diaco with a horrible offense or another failed coach will do that.
