Use this game to let Evers get a lot of "reps" in the passing game. I don't see how reps handing the ball off do much for his development as a passer, which is what we need him to be.

That ain't happening until after regular season as part of bowel game prep, or the off season.
Team is 3/4 way through the season and they aren’t playing for the national championship.
Now is the time to refine what you do well and firmly establish your identity.

You say this as if this is a sure thing.

I think it will be a tough game. We will run, run, and run. They won't dare let him pass between the hashmarks too much. Look at the areas of the field we let him throw. It's all in low risk areas. And still he had that interception against Rice.

I don't think he can see the field. It's things are moving too fast for him.

Why do we need an interception machine?
Obviously not what i was advocating but since you brought it up, I'll take a 3TD : 1INT ratio any day of the week. Not including rushing TDs.

someone who can read zones, find receivers in the seams, and isn't afraid to zip the ball there.

I think more of the later than the former... The head, the foot, the offense, the defense... Don't take a hit, don't throw a pick... I like the way he's just kind of said "screw it" in a couple of late game situations and played a lot freer. Need to see Mora that.

We have already firmly established our identity as a one-dimensional run team. And the fact that we are not playing for a natty or a major bowl game is, in my opinion, a reason to start giving Evers live reps in the passing game. That's what Mora says he needs and that's why we brought in a bunch of very good receivers. We are already bowl eligible with UMass stilll to play. If we are really trying to develop NE as a passer, let him throw it 25-30 times this week. Throw mostly the safer stuff but have him take some shots over the middle.

So treat it like a a developmental scrimmage?

I don’t see this happening. We can’t lose to a team this badly on purpose. That’s what we would be doing.

Who says we would lose by letting Evers throw more against a bad team? He may have to throw anyway with UAB selling out to stop the run, which I believe they will be. Perfect opportunity for NE to show he can win with his arm. And he needs the live reps. It’s got to start somewhere…why not now?

They might have a bad record but they also may have found something and are playing better considering the blowout against Tulsa. We have to be loaded for bear.

Evers throws interceptions in the middle of the field. That's why they call plays for him to do it. He couldn't pass against other bad teams anyways. Against Wake in the 4th qtr they just let him pass because they were just little dinks and dunks that were eating clock.

gunslinger is a polite term for a person who throws interceptions except amongst the people who think it means somebody who scores touchdowns.

That’s funny. Nick has 4 INTs and and Joe has 3.

You guys crack.

Today I learned that Joe Fagnano is a gunslinger.

Your obsession about being consistently wrong on topics is intriguing but I'm pushing Fagnano as QB right now.

Well he HAS had the opportunity to throw as many times as hand it off. He just wasn't all that effective. And they tend to let him throw only to sideline receivers. Fagnano, on the other hand, is under no such restrictions and seems to throw north much better than to receivers in the outside zone. Why is that I ask myself? Probably mechanics, but we do not have enough film to analyze mechanics on the BY.

UAB QB Jalen Kitna’s 6 TD passes vs. Tulsa. UAB school record, more than a few for the ex-Florida QB, and son of past NFL QB Jon Kitna. Helpful ammo for Mora and company to focus the D’s attention.
