Amore channeling his inner @businesslawyer šŸ˜‰

-> Fagnano, by the eye test, isn’t especially tall or imposing at 6-foot-4 and 225 lbs., not especially fast or athletic, nor does he possess a rocket arm or pinpoint accuracy. Maybe the ā€œmeasurablesā€ look ordinary, but his stat lines would be the envy of nearly every quarterback in college football, because he is noteworthy for what he doesn’t do — panic or make mistakes. And it’s also noteworthy that, in his seventh year of college football, he still seems to be getting better each week.

ā€œJoe’s playing at a high level right now,ā€ UConn coach Jim Mora said, ā€œand it’s because of the work he does, confidence he has, repetition he has gotten in college football and this system.ā€ <-

-> Exciting things are becoming possible for UConn football, and it starts with a seemingly ordinary Joe who keeps doing extraordinary things. Mora and O’Brien both have vast NFL experience, and pro coaches do like measurables, but also like quarterbacks who make good decisions under duress. You stick with someone like that.

ā€œI would not write Joe off as a guy who will finish his career at UConn,ā€ Mora said earlier this year. ā€œI think Joe is pretty special, there are some real qualities. He’ s going to be a mature player when he gets done here, and he has a lot of value, not just at this level, but at the next level, whether it’s the NFL, USFL or Canada, I think he can continue to play.ā€ <-

More recognition for QB1:

Joe Fagnano, Connecticut (23-of-31, 387 total yards, 5 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 90.4)
Fagnano, who passed for a season-high 362 yards and four touchdowns, led the Huskies to a 38-23 win over Boston College for their first road win over a power conference opponent since 2012.

Frankly, it was one of the better performances I’ve seen from any UConn QB.

Can’t tell you how many years, our QBs have had those same passes open but missed them OR our receivers dropped the ball.

He just threw dime after dime.

I think the unsung hero’s in a performance like this are:

1) Offensive line giving him the opportunity to have receivers run routes and plays of 25+ yards, the QB usually needs time.
2) Receivers!

This. Exactly this. Fagnano isn't flashy, but he goes out every week and gets it done. Two years ago, before the start of the season, there was a pretty sizable "anybody but Fagnano" contingent on the board. Boy, were we wrong.

Really happy for Joe (and us). He's having a heck of a year.

I generally agree….but I don’t think 6’ 4ā€ and 225 is ā€œordinaryā€. He is a good sized QB. But, I agree with the general point.

What’s interesting to me..is that at this point in his career, JF is a much better QB than Boyle ever was…..yet Boyle somehow has spent years in the NFL.

Boyle got the bro hookup from Aaron Rodgers. And then when he made a roster his value went up. He must have some value off the field in addition to having a really strong but inaccurate arm.

Boyle had an NFL arm from day one at UConn.
