MOHEGAN – Considering what UConn women’s basketball fans have been treated to in the past, those watching the WNBA’s Eastern Conference All-Star practice on Friday at the Mohegan Sun Arena were more than familiar with the Stefanie Dolson show. The former UConn standout and now second-year center for the Washington Mystics was clearly enjoying herself and making the most of her first All-Star appearance.
Always animated and always colorful – “Look at her, her hair’s purple,” Connecticut center Kelsey Bone said with a laugh – Dolson stole the show when she won what has become tradition to end a WNBA practice: the halfcourt shooting contest.
With $101 sitting on the hardwood to be claimed, Dolson was the first to sink the shot and collect her prize, one which she had tried to kiddingly abscond early in the event.
