This from the UConn Women's basketball website. "The sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team 915-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) takes on St. John's (11-5, 1-4) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Carnesecca Arena." That's one hell of a winning percentage :):)

Of course everything written should be proofread better than it is, but failing to hit the shift key on a left parenthesis is way down on my list of catastrophic errors. By and large, fact-checking is a more urgent need in most writing than proofreading for typos.

My brother is a professional editor/typesetter/proofreader, and he says that virtually every book in print contains typos.

Geno said he was going to load up the OOC schedule. Our 2 losses suddenly are not so glaring.:p

915 wins?? Dang, what do we do, play 1 game every 10 minutes or something?

D*mn auto-correct and/or auto-fill. :)
I don't know how many times I will be punching keys on my phone and then look up to see that my Microsoft Edge browser has inserted the word that they thought I was typing. Many, madly times I have missed the MS "correction".
You can't imagine how many times I've told people to "go duck off".:rolleyes:

No. As others have said.

And it drives me nuts. It is everywhere, and in addition to the various spelling errors and outright wrong words, I see other examples, like headers not matching content (in places where it is not intentional, like the local Letters to the Editor; there are a whole bunch of sites on the web where it is intentional).

Many have unfortunately become immune to both the numerous errors and intentionally misleading items.

The bane of my reading existence is when plurals are mixed up with possessives. Especially when seen in communication from teachers. Teachers.

Like the old days, anyway.

I don't proofread my comments and I know I should. I just hope it is close enough that with a little code breaking work the reader will be able to figure out what it is I am trying to say.

So that would put Geno at 2,129 wins vs 164 losses, after last nights win. !!WOW!!;)

I still proofread everything I send out. I get embarrassed when I send out something with glaring spelling or grammatical errors in it. Sometimes I feel like I am a dying breed...

Lot's of people are not sufficiently attentive. We live in LA and received an evacuation notice ( during the firestorm ) which had been issued in error. My wife and I had just come in from outside and, in our nabe, there was no danger at that point. So we knew the notice had to be a mistake. But that is a major error with respect to detail. They put in the wrong zip codes. Another form of typo that was not proofed.

Stay safe out there and hope for the best outcome.
