yeah, but unclear whether this is because he is 100%, or posturing for the committee.

I don't think they're going to beat the SEC either way. It's hard to overstate just how bad the ACC is.

Yeah it’d be criminal incompetence to not announce he’s playing (in order to preserve a #1 seed). There’s a very real chance Duke doesn’t reach the S16 without Flagg. The committee knows this.

I got reemed for saying this before the BET but I do think losing early was better for our chances in the tourney. We would have gotten embarrassed by StJ.

Extra day of rest, some time to reflect and rally up for one last run. Hopefully Hurley smartens up and plays his best players.

i'm hopeful here....he was clear that he saves some stuff for the tournament, very famously in the usage of sanogo 2 years ago, though less so last year becasue we were so good anyway....so I expect some twist....exactly what it is? who knows.

Though of course morons here are claiming our coaches are idiots...so who knows...

If you are not going to bring 100% effort to the floor at all times, it’s not going to matter.

Assuming the effort is there (especially on the D and D-rebounding) and we keep TOs to a reasonable level, preparing to defend us on short turn-around does give us a bit of an advantage.

Hurley has been weird this year, but I do think he is smart and does save things. If I had to guess he knew he had zero chance against StJ with BE refs. Losing the BET this year doesn’t even register but every big tourney does. The BET played out exactly as expected. I think smart coaches like Hurley know what they have and know when most matters and build up appropriately to get best positioned when games matter most.

Clean slate, new refs, some tricks up the sleeve and who knows. Now is the time to pull out all the stops, all cards on the table.

The core of this team has played in 12 tourney games. That is a lot of experience to take into the dance.

Pretty obviously yes. Whether or not we can make it out of the first round: tbd

Who is not playing that should be?
Reed needs to be the man.

The thing about the tourney is it can be the great equalizer - make a run and it can make a meh season a great one. Conversely a great reg season into an early flame out is disappointing. The next three weeks really are 90% of the value of how a season is perceived and remembered.

While I’ll be pulling for StJ, if we did make a run and then got punted early, how fun it would be to talk sh&t. Better season, StJ losing in round of 32 or us making it to the elite 8?

I’ll say yes, but you just never know what to expect from this team. Getting blown out in the first round and playing a tight one with Duke seem equally as likely. The only two teams I think we don’t stand a chance against even on our best night is Florida and Houston.

Got to hope he's a little rusty and the ankle isn't 100%.
It's not going to be close to 100% and I think it will cost Duke their best chance at a title for this year. I don't say that with glee, either.

there were a lot of minutes of ineffective Samson Johnson friday...relative to an incredibly effective Reed....

No point in losing a game with Reed riding the bench with 3 fouls. He gets 5....we should use them all if that's what it takes to keep him on the floor.

We have almost as many National Championships (6) as Big East Tournament championships (8) on many fewer opportunities.

Yes. No question. Due to the refs in particular. Now, if we end up playing Duke in round 2, then we’ll have to contend against that bias again and we have no chance. Other than that we could def make a run.
