There have been 30 championships since 1995 (no tournament in 2020). The UConn women have won 12 of them.

12 / 30 = 40%

The men have won 6 of 30 = 20%

I think that this statistic is just amazing. But I was wondering all tournament long why many of ESPN stats were based upon the last 25 seasons. As far as NCs, WBB would still be at 11, so...44%.

I went with my cousin to the second round game against South Dakota State. He had not been to Gampel since he saw a women's game there back in 1997 or 1998. Certainly a long time ago, but not an eternity (at least from the perspective of an old guy!).

I asked him whether Gampel looked different than he recalled. His immediate comment - well, there weren't all of those banners hanging in the rafters back then.

Think about that. There was one back then. Now there soon will be eighteen.

He didn't recognize the new Patoni tiles on the ceiling?

The other shocking number is 24. Geno has coached for 40 seasons and he has been to the final four in 60% of those seasons. And specifically to 62% of the actual FF held during those seasons.

And if you subtract the 5 years at the beginning while he was building the program from ground zero it is 24 0f 34 since the 1990-91 season - 71%

FYI Summitt I am pretty sure is in second place at 18 in 31 NCAA years for 58%.

Seems our loss to Tennessee disguised a dominant UConn team. Our only loss of the year. All wins were blowouts including the in season win over South Carolina. In the tourney the only “ close” game was the 14 pt win over a juju less USC. In the final it was consensus that the 29 pt win was an anomaly and would not be repeated. Well in some ways the final was more of a rout and even disproved we can’t win if we don’t hit our threes . We kept hearing well the big east is weak yet we beat the big conferences as if they were just another big east team. Very impressive and I’m sure going to miss Paige. Congrats to the champs.

I only gave us 60% chance against UCLA.

Boy was I wrong.

Up 32 at the last media timeout, before they cleared the bench and took their foot off the gas. That's almost incomprehensible against a team widely regarded as the best team in the country.
