Stef, Bria and Stewie made the list and are almost guaranteed to be a WBCA All American.

Moriah didn't make the list, so she won't be a WBCA All American.

After posting and looking at the list Nina Davis of Baylor made the list and Diamond didn't

Generally, they seem to be groupings of conferences. So I would guess they are "semi-geographic".

Moriah better be all over that next year. I understand that you can't have an entire starting five on the All-American list, but what would they have done if KML had been healthy all season? Can't knock any of them out...

Region 1 is BigE/AAC with 12 players
Region 2 is ACC with 7
Region 3 is SEC with 7
Region 4 is Eastern small conferences with 6
Region 5 is Big12 with 7
Region 6 is Big 10 with 5
Region 7 is Western small conferences with 4
Region 8 is Pac12 with 4
Is there a specific formula involved in selecting the number of players per region or something like the HOF voting where a player needs to be named on 80% of all the regional ballots, or ...?

I don't think any of the regions are only one conference, rather, no one was named from the other conferences in the region.

As to the formula - yes, it is in the article. Based on number of teams in the conference and somehow factored out to result in 52 total nominees.
