....(but should) about this year’s college basketball season!
Four segments this week, a lot of fun chatting with each (and three of the four have a bit of a UConn connection. Two are pretty obvious, can you tell me what all three are?).
First, Delaware coach Tina Martin and I discuss the fact the Blue Hens aren't just "the Delle Donnes", they are so much more. Two BCS school transfers, a lot of time playing together, this is a strong group making big things happen.
Second, Nebraska may have the best duo in the Big 10 and one of the best in the country with sophomore Jordan Hooper (20 ppg, 10 rpg) and Lindsey Moore (16 ppg, 6 apg). I talked with both ladies together on everything from Glee to the Big 10 to Lindsey's world famous Cap'n Crunch cookies
Quick, who are the top five teams in the country in scoring margin? Baylor, UConn, Notre Dame, Duke, and....Florida Gulf Coast? Yes, the Eagles' spread, three point offense is fifth right now. They've won 84% of their games since starting a women's program 10 years ago, and this is the first year they are eligible for the Big Dance. Coach Karl Smesko is the architect and we talked about the team and the program...and he catches up the Husky faithful on old friend Mel Thomas who is there.
Xavier not leading the A-10? Really? Graduation does funny things to a conference, and St. Bonaventure is leading the A-10 with an undefeated in conference season, and losses only to Delaware and Villanova. Jim Crowley has four straight 20 win seasons now, and we talked about his team and building a successful program in upstate New York with only 2,000 enrollment.
So four things (and people) that you may not know about, but hopefully you will check out this week's podcast, and now you will!
