Disappointed in the Hartford Courant

I used to always enjoy the coverage in the Hartford Courant after a big game. Not only was there a blow by blow summary of the game, but there were pieces by columnists who offered insight, such as Mike Anthony and Jeff Jacobs. But apparently those two have departed for the Connecticut Post. Now we're left with only a summary and perhaps some headline about what awards Paige has won. Wish they could get some more commentary back.

Sounds like 'cost cutting' if you ask me. Rep-Am does the same thing. If they can't get it from other sources (like AP), they don't put much effort into it.

Nobody buys the paper anymore so there isn't any money to pay reports. Plus people want immediate information and get it from Twitter or elsewhere on line. The news is old by time you see it in a newspaper so there really isn't a need for papers anymore. Just turn on the cell phone and the computer and all the information you need is at your finger tips. News, Sports, Weather it's all just a click away.

Was a Courant subscriber for many years. Now subscribe to the paper I used to deliver as a kid (too many years ago). Yeah, I'm an old fart but I like to hold and peruse the edition. I read ALOT of on-line news as well but first thing in the AM with my first cup is just irreplaceable.

The Courant is shutting down. Don't publish their own newspaper. There isn't even an office anymore. TRONC sold that off. On its way out.....
