DiMauro: The historic UConn-Rutgers rivalry isn't history yet

Fun trip down memory lane of some of the more colorful moments from this rivalry. Some highlights:

• Freshman Linda Miles yelling "Get used to this Geno! Four more years!" during the closing seconds of Rutgers win over UConn at the RAC in 1998. "To this day when I see her (an aspiring official) we laugh," Auriemma said. As Mike points out, Rutgers never beat UConn again with Miles there.

• Sveta's steal and basket to win the game in 1999: "We're down one, maybe 10 seconds left. In the huddle, I say to Svet (Svetlana Abrosimova) '(gosh darnit) Sveta, we need a steal right now.' She nods once. No smile, nothing. Just like if the KGB asked someone to murder five people. "She goes out there, gets a steal and a layup and we win by one," Auriemma said. "I said, 'Damn. That kid is unbelievable.'"

The great players, coaches, teams and championships aside, UConn fans have been blessed to have a great storyteller in Geno and writers who love to write about this team's rich history.
