I hate to depend on Daniels, but he absolutely is the key to a deep run.

Russ this year is MUCH better than Russ last year. He can actually shoot now. Last year he either got to the basket or nothing. So I think Boat can actually compare favorably to LAST YEAR'S Russ Smith, not so much now.

He's not comparable to Russ from last year either, yes he was a mess at times, his shooting %'s were low, and you'll probably never see Boat do anything like that ND overtime game, but '12-'13 Russ is still better than '13-'14 Boat, he destroyed our backcourt last year in Hartford.

I agree. Without a consistent contribution from DD we go through periods when we can be too one dimensional and Bazz tries to do too much. He also gives us that inside/outside threat and the occasional putback. He seems to be coming back into form so maybe we get a nice effort in game 1 and can build from there.

I'd like UConn's chances against a half-court team like UVA.

It's everybody else we have to play to get to that point that's a bit concerning.

The talent is certainly there to make a run. I'm hoping the smarts are there too.

We do have a chance to make a nice run this year, but my main concern is the first game. I'm in the south and still seeing too many feel good stories about St. Joe's (even on the local news). I hope the refs are not watching as we know how refs can get flaky and impact the outcome of the game. It's obvious the NCAA wants to play up to the major conferences so they don't bolt. That's why the brackets are so crazy this year. I still cannot get over NC State in and SMU out. Even State fans down here were shocked by that one.

Russ averaged 22.3 points in the tournament last season, got to the line nine times per game, shot 45% from the field, and recorded 2.5 steals per game. I love Boat but he is nowhere near that level.

If Daniels ever decides he can dominate most games, he will. I would not mind if that epiphany comes in time for St. Joes and lasts through the last game of the NCAAs.
