Just a reminder for anyone that may not know - it’s well known that Sarah’s mom is the former Harvard star Allison Feaster but Azzi’s mom was also a college star. If you’ve thought she looks familiar, it’s probably because you saw her as a player for Georgetown, but she started her career at NC State where she won ACC Freshman of the Year. You might remember her as that pesky guard that played tough defense and always managed to get a three when the Hoyas needed one. Yeah, that’s her.

Bodes well for this year since Tim indicates that she was not feeling totally back, last year. I thought at the end of last year and the first few games of her sophomore season before the Notre Dame game injury were the only times we saw the near 100% Azzi. More drives to the hoop and that classic mid-range pull up jumper are indications of her condition.

When she was pretty much just a great open 3pt shooter, you knew she was not all the way back. Presumably this means a higher usage rate out of Azzi this year, without jiving up any efficiency, which is timely given Paige's departure.

Azzi is so much more than a threat from deep. I believe she was considered a lockdown defender when she played on team USA. And, like Paige, she can score a variety of ways. I'm hopeful that we see the complete package this year. Again, like Paige, she's not a particularly selfish player, so I'm sure the coaching staff is working to ingrain the notion that her taking good opportunities will result in everyone getting better looks.

I'm looking forward to her showing what a complete player she is this year. As good as she's been, I believe we haven't seen her best yet.

I still cling to the preposterous notion that one reason she came back is for bragging rights. Two rings are better than one and if she gets the second one this season she can remind Paige of it until the end of time.

Of course, she might not have mentioned this reason to her parents.

Who else is old enough to have seen Jennifer Azzi play point guard for Stanford? She was MOP for Stanford's 1990 Championship team.

I've been watching my local girl since she was in 9th grade. As a reminder, she won 2 of the 4 NPOY awards as a 10th grader, the first sophomore to do so. At her best, Azzi is THE best. I hope we all get to see that this season.
