Yeah, if Andre could show a sustained focus and intensity, he would put up unbelievable numbers. What drives me nuts (more than usual) is the way that he will be about 10 feet from the basket and one of our players shoots the ball. Andre stands there and watches it. He makes no move to go to the basket to rebound. He does this over and over again. If he quickly went toward the basket, he could get a LOT of additional boards with his size and jumping ability. I'm not talking about crashing and going over the back, just get in there and fight for the ball.

One more thing. When he received passes inside the zone, he usually just passed it right back out without looking if anyone was open or if he could get to the basket. There were times when he could have taken a dribble or two and been at the basket. I wish he would forget jumpshooting for now and look to drive and dunk when open. He could have put a lot more pressure on Melo, maybe drew some fouls.

Yep he takes away from our zone busting abilities by #1 not facing the basket when he gets it at the high post and even the low post sometimes, he needs to get in triple threat at least before passing and #2 passing it outr without even thijnking of attacking...why guard him? Good points DB2u....

I don't understand why people are blaming Drummond for that Melo put back. Drummond went for the block. No way could he had blocked Melo out. Roscoe on the other hand could have put a body on him but he was ball watching and thinking about going for the block too.

A higher BB IQ on two occasions during that play would have prevented Melo from getting an easy putback:

1) Drummond stayed too long on his hedge and forced him and Roscoe to switch, setting up two mismatches.

2) Roscoe inexplicably tried to help out Drummond on the shot-block attempt, leaving Melo unguarded for the offensive rebound and dunk.

Just rewatched the last Syracuse possession, and that is exactly correct. The first one would have been fine, since Fair drove and was caught, the second one was a mistake of effort--but a mistake nonetheless.

Yup, the effort was good -- Roscoe gave great hustle all night -- but that play demands a certain discipline and savvy to stay home and trust your teammate to do his job while you do yours.

To me the intangibles tell more of the story of his game. At this point he is a dunk or nothing offensive player who takes ill advised shots, often gets outhustled, shies away from contact and is a late game liability due to his atrocious free throw shooting. He makes some jaw dropping plays like last night but makes a lot of mistakes and is inconsistent like most freshmen. I really hope he stays in school because he has barely scratched the surface of his potential. On another note, the last I read, the NCAA will not discuss the APR issue again until April? I assume it will be after the championship game. This delay is going to kill our recruiting and continue to be a huge distraction to the current players.

Sorry like to agree not close....he was standing right next to Melo and had the opportunity to box out...he was there didn't do it........by no means a knock on Andre as noone boxes out as I said........but he was there!!! Never got off his feet...........
He was because he was drifting over there from his guy after coming down. Watch the replay again. He is guarding Fair on the drive and Melo was Roscoe's responsibility. Fair goes up and Drummond contests it nicely but Roscoe leaves Melo wide open.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but watching it in person, it looked like he came down awkwardly on his second dunk of the game. The rest of the first half it looked like his vertical game was hindered. There were also a couple of plays where he didn't show as much lateral movement as he usually does.
