R.I.P. Love the Allman Bros.
I absolutely loved his melodic leads and tone. I’m both sure that there have been many duos better than him and Duane Allman.
This is a nice little playlist for those of you on Spotify.
His son tours, also sometimes tours with Greg Allman's son. Would recommend.
I saw his son Duane Betts at the Broadbrook Opera House ( Great Venue by the way) last fall. Good show. His son tours, also sometimes tours with Greg Allman's son. Would recommend.
Maybe top 3 mainstream, but not best ever.Best pedal steel ever!!
Hot like fire.Too much hoops on the mind. Thought he played for the Providence team that upset us in the BET.
Wrong Dickey.
Jaimoe - longtime CT residentA dear old friend of mine played with Dickie for many years in both Great Southern and the Dickie Betts Band. He also still plays in Jaimoe's Jassz Band. Anyhow he has always spoken of Dickie in glowing terms. I guess he was as good a man as he was a musician, which is saying a lot.
I hope so. I went out to an open jam last night specifically to hear some Allman Brothers but heard none. Hopefully tonight.Every cover band will be playing Dickie Betts tribute songs this weekend.

The 1970 Powder Ridge Festival was "the greatest show that never was".This was their first show in CT. Wow. A little before my time. Anyone attend?
