Diamond Stone-Malik Newman Package Deal Not a Certainty

There's been much made of a potential Diamond Stone-Malik Newman package deal, but according to the father of five-star center Stone, it's not a certainty. Bob Stone told InsideMDSports.com that the two will team in college if their respective recruitments work out that way, but a package deal isn't -- no pun intended -- set in Stone.

"Our objective is to put Diamond in the best position to meet his goals and be successful and I'm sure the Newmans feel the same," the elder Stone said.

Stone, who's being recruited by most of college basketball's bluebloods, visited UConn this spring and plans to take more visits, but has not scheduled any.

Why do you assume Newman won't go north?

My guess: different teams because this is how packaged deals usually end up.

I'm not seeing KenSucky for Stone & Newman. A lot of turnover would need to happen for that to happen.

Next year:
Center is: WCS (Jr), 5 Star Dakari Johnson (Soph), 5 Star Karl Townes (Frosh). Realistically 1 will go Pro, most likely WCS. Stone would still be competing with two 5 Star recruits for 2015-2016 at Center. Plus add in Marcus Lee & Trey Lyles can swing at Center too.

SG is: Aaron Harrison (Soph), 5 Star Devin Booker (Frosh). 1 will probably go Pro, most likely Harrison. Plus Kentucky already has a commitment from another 5 Star in Charles Matthews for 2015-2016. That's a lot of competition for Newman here as well.

Why would Newman & Stone want to go to KenSucky, when they can get more time at just about any other school? It will be fun to watch KenSucky this year. Lots of 5 stars, but who will be the top dogs & who accept a lesser role?

It is never fun to watch them, unless it's an implosion, at least to me it's not. Hate the squid and all the sleaziness that he stands for. I realize it's like pissing into the wind, but I can't help how I feel...

We have to trust that KO will make the right calls when it comes to character and "fit" issues. The website and "branding" stuff seems pretentious but I'm sure I'm out of touch with the impact of social media on the "yutes" of today.

QFT. It drives me absolutely bonkers when people say "no pun intended" when they're deliberately making a pun. Also when people say "literally" to refer to something that isn't literal.
