Well now, there's a surprise if confirmed. Thought Maryland was the competition.

Anyway, a fine school, and congrats to DD and coach H.

UNC is a great school. Academics top notch. Facilities and town great. The only problem is Hatchell is getting up there in age, the team has been on a downslope and there is doubt to whether they will keep her around. New AD in town at UNC.

That's a bad move IMO. Sylvia Hatchell's offense is suspect. They get worked by UCONN every single year.

A lot of schools get worked by UCONN every year. That's life for 99% of WBB. My only problem is UNC will have to push kids out of the program I do not believe in taking more commitments than you have room for. UNC has 5 players coming in next year and with Diamond 4 more coming in 2013 that is two very big classes. They already had 6 freshman on the team this year. you cannot take that many players year after year without forcing kids out. If UNC honors everyones commitment they will have 16 players on the roster when DD is a freshman. That is not taking into account Hoopgurlz tweets saying UNC could get more commitments today. so how many players will be forced to transfer?

Evidently UNC may get a couple more today, per Peach State hoops. No, I have no link. Just read it somewhere.

DD can start at UNC ASAP whereas she probably a bench warmer at Huskyland for one maybe two years. If that is where she will be happiest then G-dspeed. Going to be a lot of competition in the ACC.

Keil Moore's twitter.

I really thought it was between us and Maryland. Read somewhere that Lexie Brown was her best friend.

But hey, if she's happy, great for her.

Woah. What a strange decision. They didn't even make the tournament last year! UConn beat them by what, 50? Yikes...

Their roster showed 5 frosh and 1 soph this past year? Why do you say 6?
Additionally I noticed that one of their 2012 commits is listed as "verbal", not "signed." Maybe she's not coming?

If that's the case, then they'd have 1-5-4, with room to sign 5 for 2013.

Zowie. That's Hoopgurlz #3, #15, #18. And they already had #27 Briana Day 6'4".
Plus 2012's Xylina.

They should be top 10 again in 2014-15.

While I am surprised Diamond picked UNC, I think people here have been very unrealistic about the type of 2013 class we are going to be signing for a while now. It's not going to be a wow class. It's impossible after what we signed in 2010, 2011, and especially 2012.

That is 7. Then they have 4 signees in 2012, 4 commits in 2013. now a tweet in an above post said UNC got 2 more 2013s so it becomes 6 commits in 2013. You would have 7 currently on the team + 4 signees in 2012 + 6 commits 2013 = 17 players for only 15 scholarships. This is excluding the girl who committed but did not sign and look now there is basically no chance they will let her enroll now so she gets a raw deal.

Man, I thought we were in the running for Mavunga. ( we meaning Louisville) . Dang, it's Derby Day in Louisville and these 2013's are making some noise here, atleast in my world.
Wonder what this means for Mercedes?

So whose left on the board for us? Chong? McCall? The guard from Illinois whose name escapes me?

It will be fine. Never expected any kind of wow class. Interesting comment from DD saying that UNC will be the place where she can be herself "on and off the court."

She will be closer to family but I cannot understand top talent wanting to play for Sylvia. Everything they do is so undisciplined.

Well, UNC is gonna need all the help they can get. Those are great pickups. UCONN doesn't need diamond deshields, they got enough studs over there. Spread the wealth. They'll still underachieve tho because hatchell simply can't coach. Those kids are gonna be running around the court like she had Degraffenreid & the rest of that group.

Thanks I missed Erika Johnson, who was a mid-season transfer.
Will be an interesting to see how they get back to 15, since I've never heard of WCBB not renewing scholarships (other than Rene Portland).

Hatchell is not a great coach but getting good players can make bad coaches look good. Not too long ago UConn lost 3 straight games to UNC because they had better players.
