That's great that the score wasn't indicative of the Memphis game but that doesn't help the ol W-L record. At some point Bob, you gotta take the training wheels off the offense and try to score points. Points sometimes help you win. Wins can lead to that elusive bowl game you mention. Every one of your actions has been a vote of no confidence, despite your words to the contrary. I sincerely hope we can perform at a 200 level next year.

Did you watch the game? UConn committed a lot of penalties and more than a few were the big yardage ones (10 for 115).

UConn was going to win scoring 10 points?? Sure, UConn committed 10 penalites for 115 yards - It aint the penalties.

True. It's also when they are committed and for what? 115/10 = 11.5 yard average. That's a fair amount of holdings, personal fouls, and pass interferences supplementing the 5 yard slaps on the wrist...The yardage also doesn't take into account when they happen. The hold on Ron Johnson's run not only made it 1st and 20, it negated a pretty significant pick up. There were a number of penalties that extended drives opponent drives or backed UConn up...But go ahead and take them out of context if it promotes your agenda.

Fair enough - agree about the Ron Johnson run.

I really dont have an agenda.

I will restate - Its more than JUST penalties.

Some of the penalties had nothing to do with intelligence. Unless you are speaking about the intelligence of the coach. Putting Williams out there to rack up penalty after penalty is beyond stupid. Hopefully this is where Diaco will smarten up.

Well without some of those penalties there are big plays for Memphis... so it's really not just penalties.

The Johnson run does not happen without the hold.

Unfortunately, yes. I did watch the game. And the final score was indicative of UCONN ' S play.

You are mixing the two statements. Diaco said the score is not indicative of how the team played and he's right. The defense played hard, but ran out of gas in the 3rd quarter. The offense continually put them in a terrible position, but a 41-10 score usually means the losing team gave up. UConn didn't give up. Two of Memphis' 3rd quarter drives started in UConn Territory and the defense had already stopped Memphis in the red zone twice earlier in the first quarter. Awfully tall order when they are constantly put in that position.

UConn as a whole killed themselves with penalties. That was indeed the story of the game.

First Quarter.
Kick Catch Interference (making a 27 yard punt even more pathetic and putting Memphis in UConn Territory to start drive)
Defensive Holding on 3rd & 7 - (extended drive)
Offensive holding (Ron Johnson Play. Johnson got to the Memphis 32 Yd. ln. Without the hold, Johnson gains at least between 4-6 yards)
Defensive Holding on 1st & 10 (puts Memphis in UConn territory to start drive)
Pass Interference on 3rd & 8 - (extended drive)

Second Quarter
Personal Foul at Mem 11, backed up out of the red zone to the 26 (led to a missed FGA)
Pass Interference on 1st & 10 from UConn 20 (gave Memphis better starting field position. Memphis scored TD).

Third Quarter
Pass Interference on 1st & 10 from UConn 39 (Immediately after the fumble)
Pass Interference on 3rd & 4 from UConn 25 (extended a TD drive)

Fourth Quarter
False Start on 3rd & 5 (making manageable into long)

So now explain how the penalties were not the story of the game?

Well for one they got blown out in the half where they only committed 3 penalties.

Secondly, if you commit a lot of pass interference penalties the alternative is you gave up a big play.

You just are unable to see the big picture.

I've grown tired of and irritable while explaining it. Luckily for my family, I have a 40 minute drive to decompress.

On a housekeeping recruiting note, Huskies have 20 commits, but are likely to sign 25. They also will bring in some that are backdated.

JohnFSilver 3:56pm via Twitter Web Client
We could be looking as many as 28 players added for next year. That's the scholarship room Huskies have.

JohnFSilver 4:15pm via Twitter Web Client
Also on recruiting. Team has three QBs coming this spring. They need 5 to be functional in the program. Look for another QB recruit for 2015
