Watching news with wife WVIT at 6:25 Kevin Nathan says late christmas present to Husky fans GDL is leaving UConn (we both shout YES!) and he is going to the NYG to be offensive line coach (we both shout Oh No!). This has got to be true at least the first half. I had a total change in outlook looking to next year and then I come on here and it's all up in the air. Damn!
 
Man, this really sucks being a UConn fan and Giants fan...talk about a lose lose situation with this guy...he is awful and the fact that the Giants are looking for an assistant to the assistant of the Oline makes me question the Gints O...tell GDL and his Oline videos to try Pop Warner.
 
Sorry, but I can't take you seriously when you harshly criticize and censure Dez for one rumored tweet yet you are the same posters hanging on the every word of MHver3 and establishing a thread-gasmic orgy of comments every time he mentions a word that begins with "U" or "C". I could only imagine you all after you watched Sesame Street when you were little. Twitter is cool, but just like blogs before it, it is unreliable, quantity over quality dominates tweeting. If someone posts it on the Internetz, it must be true.

I will admit that Dez has not been on his "A" game lately, but he does a lot of positive things to showcase the program. He has sparked more pro-UConn media attention and he gets people to come in and offer multiple perspectives. Since when did he confirm this rumor, he did not. He went to the source, GDL himself. Would Deleone even be trusted to tell the truth if he were a serious candidate in the midst of a possible deal? No.

Just because he tones down his expectations and chooses not to give his opinion on certain matters, you treat him like he is incompetent or against UConn. He can't please every reader, but many of you create a unrealistic expectation for a journalist. He had to deal with people asking when Mike Nebrich would be put in to spell Whitmer for crying out loud. It is absolutely ridiculous. The sensationalistic (yellow) journalism you expect should be tossed in the "dumpster fire." Maybe the national inquirer is more suited to your liking.

Journalistic integrity and higher standards arguments in 5...4...3...

Des has been awfully wrong on two big coaching moves.

What's good? Not his reporting.
 
This guy who works at my Dry Cleaners, knows a guy at the Oil Change place, who has a Niece at UCONN who dates one of the football Equipment Managers, who once shared a cab with an Alumnus, who was married to a lady who used to clean houses for someone in the Athletic Dept, who was marooned for 2 years on an island with monkey who was in the UCONN Health Center Experimental Drug Unit, who got a tweet from an unnamed source.........how am I doing as far as qualifying my sources?

Can't we just can GDL on the pretense that he was out looking for another job? Don't we want coaches that want to be here? And don't wear a bib when they eat?

PS. His blog is replete with typos and unprofessional slang totally unbecoming a professional journalist whose currency his supposed to be written word. The Courant was hip in 1781. Now, it supposed to be the main printed news source in Connecticut. If I'm his editor, I'd read him the riot act. We don't need cool and hip, Desmond. We need critical insight and good reporting. Dez is the written equivalent of DJ Dogpound.

So Lagow was in the mix, too??? Wow. Sometimes, I really really worry about Twitter. I hope that none of this ridiculous crap spooks this kid, because I think he's got a chance to be a really good one for us, and I want him to come here!

I'm no Des fan but he says he has sources and he posted it with a question mark indicating it was speculation.

Maybe he got burned by the sources, maybe there was some truth to it and it changed, maybe it still happens going forward.

I'm not really all that upset. GDL staying means it's much more likely 2014 comes with a fresh start. I honestly don't think it matters because this isn't a bowl team anyway but GDL makes it a certainty.

Better question is why Dez is trolling young kid recruits and spewing . If I'm P, I tell Dez to stay away from my recruits or ill f'in bury you.

Read the exchange. All about Dez and his style. He cant let go. people think they know bur dont. Oooohhh he's so mysterious and powerful. Trying to impress a high school kid who doesnt know any better. What a clown in every possible way.

Since Dez blames fans, I feel free to blame him and make a concerted effort to get him removed. He sucks just like the rest of the collection of losers holding us back.

The only thing that was "flat-out wrong" was Dez' reporting. This makes his P apologista stance much tougher to take. I was one of DC's defenders. Now he's this close to getting on my list.

ADD: His follow-up is even worse. Tell us what happened here, Mr. Reporter. What changed?

I think that it is public knowledge now (or at least Boneyard-public), since HFD already posted on it. I hope he doesn't mind my re-posting it. Suffice it to say that some one or some people at UConn (or connected to UConn somehow) were not all that pleased with his Jonathan Husky avatar that was holding a bottle of Captain Morgan's and a bottle of Bombay. Rather than make a thing of it, HFD just did the honorable thing and changed the avatar.

For those that think HFD is just an irresponsible drunk, they are dead wrong. He's a very responsible drunk...

I can't do it, Mike. Just can't. Here's the list of things that would happen to me if I did:

1) I would start reporting things to other people that are false.
2) My spelling would regress to HFD levels.
3) I would start to use acronyms to describe how I feel, like LOL, SMH, ROTFLOL, etc.
4) I would no longer look up as I'm walking down the street, staring at Twitter. Eventually, I'll bump into a Fishy-like character at 6'9", 308 lbs., culminating in a scrappy but futile fight to the death.

All that for Twitter? Can't....just can't....
 
@Fake_Dez_Conner: Watched the Oregon game last night, fine if you like 2nd and short and marketing your program's "coolness"---it's not for me.
