2020 Recruiting: Denver Anglin at Peach Jam

Gotchya. I have watched the CFJ tape quite a bit and I think he'll be much more of a 2 than a 3.
This is a super random comparison but I think long term UConn will use Corey Floyd like Michigan used Chaundee Brown this year. Big dude that can come in and be physical. Type of guy that if you're playing against him you'd say damn I wish we had that guy. According to Kenpom 3/5ths of the time Chaundee played the 3, the other 2/5ths was at the 2. I think we'd see a similar breakdown with Floyd and he and Anglin could definitely co-exist.

He's got a strong offer list, I think he likes us and it seems we're really recruiting him heavily, but that list is nothing to sneeze at.

ummm I don't think he's 5'9 ... exaggerations or not, they didn't add 5-6 inches. He's probably around 6'0 is my guess.

  • I like that even though he isn’t really a PG right now, he’s playing the PG primarily for his team. That skill will come in handy at the next level transitioning to the true scoring PG role.
  • Definitely look for GSB to have a pretty good year next season between Naas and Denver… gonna come down to if the roleplayers can hold their own vs the big boys like TPS, Bergen, etc.
  • Effort is there usually (not so much this game because of his team’s lead) but size will be a liability on defense for sure. ‘Nova would post him up 20x a game.
  • Handle really shaky this game. 3 TOs just handling the ball on the perimeter--not good.
  • Kid he’s guarding is listed at 6’4. I’d guess Anglin is 6’0 or 6’1 then.
  • Bricked 5 dumb 3s ltae when he team was up 30… would’ve had a 50%+ game again without them

I like this pass even though his teammate couldn’t catch it. Hit him in both hands--that’s on the receiver.

Royally botched left hand finish

You can see how the gravity of his 3pt shot allows this assist in real time. Nice pass.

sure i realize he's under valued, wouldn't be surprised if he gets a big bump like floyd just did. but my hesitation is more about taking a 4th freshmen in general as opposed to a tried and true transfer that could be a difference maker on a potential top 5 team if things break right. i want to go all in on '22.
Dan Hurley has filled in spots with a couple transfers but, based on what seems to be a "team first" approach, I wonder if he'd risk team chemistry bringing in someone who'd be the focal point for a year.

The awareness to set his feet so he could catch, land, bounce, and shoot all in one motion is well beyond that of a typical high school kid. Just wow.
Yep. I can’t believe how quick he got that shot off. He may have been helped by the clock getting stuck at 2.5 for a little?
