Delaware Post Game Meltdown

So much for building on last year. I too bit hook, line and sinker. Fool me once, hell I'll let you fool me time and time again

By next week, I'll actually think we might win again, I'm that guy. It sucks being a fanatic

Thank God they can't do this to me twice a week for 5 months

Let’s stop this charade! UConn is not, and never will be, a football destination. You have to be what you are…and it has nothing to do with football. Drop the sport completely…save the money!
As embarrassing as this day has been, big time programs do not make small time decisions. If you want to be URI or Vermont then to each their own.

The O is decent, we can run and sling with most.
The D, we knew we were in for hard times but the portal we got some hired guns.
They just happen to not be not so good.

He needs to watch the tape. The role up corner, who is bailing before the snap, and the over the top safety were giving up chunk plays with slants, straight turn and throw to the receiver in the slot and then big plays over the top on the side line. Whenever they lined up with 2 wrs on the wide side they got chunk plays. We lined up10 yards off of both wrs when they snapped the ball. 2/5/4 can’t defend the edge against the run. They always got the corner running wide. And your 2 linemen on the field get beat up with double teams and the offensive line can easily get to the second level. The guys didn’t tackle and make picks/plays. But the defensive philosophy playing 2/5/4 bend don’t break really was bend then snap. Ended up playing a lot of reps on D.

I saw that too. The scheme is either broken or they are using it wrong.

One of the safeties picked up the receiver in the slot and he had like 15 yards of cushion.

Maybe he needs to call a play that fangnano can make, then...

He was a solid play caller last year. So far he gets an F this year.
Right. He was so unexpectedly good last year I feared we'd lose him.
Being Mr. positive, I was thinking he's built like Parcells so maybe, just maybe, he'd be the offensive version of Bill and take us to new heights.

The defense is reminiscent of Edsall 2.0

Terrible angles. Terrible tackling. Guys in the wrong spots. Dumb penalties on 3rd and 4th down. Not big enough to hold our ground at the LOS. Not fast enough in the secondary to catch anyone. Guys bouncing off shoulder pads. Heads down all the time.

Horrendous effort today. They seemed like they didn't want to be there.
Every word of this post is correct.

Got home a little while ago. The UConn bus tried to pass me getting on the Delaware Memorial Bridge, but I didn't have the heart to let him in and just sped away, kinda like how our defensive let Delaware outrun us today.

The only positives I could think of now that I've partially calmed down:
-saw a bunch of UConn fans and was surrounded by many in K section, so we represented well (some guy was wearing the old derpy dog logo)
-our offense can mostly move the ball except when it's 4&2 and the game is on the line
-we beat 3 targeting penalties...the zebras really like to target us with targeting, would be nice to have some called in our favor
-I can now delete and unsubscribe from every stupid email that Delaware wants to send
-I don't have to hear anymore smartazz blue chicken fans calling our football a joke
-my wife liked the lunch I packed for us

I saw more heart in our team from 2 years ago. This defense lacks a leader, lacks a closeout mindset, and really needed to get a turnover today to help us. There was a dropped INT they could've had to take away some of Del's tempo. Delaware wanted the win more...I dunno what the hell our defense wants. Losing to the fruit last week made me ticked but eager to see a bounce back. Losing today made distraught and really worried for the rest of the season.

I saw two teams, one poised and one playing tentatively. I was in K section on the 50, what a God forsaken joke. If we had converted on 4th and short late in the 4th in the red zone, game over and we win. Instead, what dejected drive home.
Brother, I was in section K lol all things considered it was actually a very good UConn turnout

our offense is alright, good enough to get us enough points to have a chance every week. That would have been enough, under one critical assumption:

to have any chance at a season, we needed to play our faces off on Defense, as we did in '24. It is now glaringly obvious that Defensively, we are a shadow of our past 2 years. with the loss of jalani, pryce, jackson, Jayden mcdonald, and others, we are back to a 2021-and-prior level of Defensive talent. And in the era of NIL, that is disappointing to see. Brock showed what he can do when he's got dawgs in his pound. this year he's got nothing to work with. That's on Jim Mora and the recruiting staff. They utterly FAILED FAILED FAILED to re-tool this defense.

Given that reality, I must put us at 5-6 wins tops this year. Jim Mora deserves some grace, but this AD has to make some tough decisions this summer about whether they want to spend the money necessary to build a P4 team.
Mora deserves no grace. 4 year honeymoon is over.

What was up with our last drive in regulation snapping the ball multiple times with more than 10 seconds on the play clock, so dumb
I was sitting with one of top recruits from this up coming class at the game today and he said that exact thing, “ Joe, run that clock down man.”

The expirement is over. Guy was skiing in Idaho when we hired him for a reason. He’s a great person but not the coach we need. He had the money and support to build a top G5 team. We lost to Delaware. This was a very winnable game and season and he clearly doesn’t have the team assembled or prepared to execute. It’s unacceptable. Just like not going out and finding a legit QB or OC and instead sticking with mediocrity which leads to failure in the long run.

x1000

JF makes these critical mistakes far foo often. He’ll play decent/okay for most of the game and that’s great, but we aren’t good enough to survive these mistakes.
Had a convo with a kid from our incoming class today about this exact thing. He’s gonna be solid, will take care of the football but he’s never gonna make the “oh my god” throw. Needless to say, he wasn’t upset a different guy is gonna be throwing him the ball next yr.

Extremely disappointing.

I don't understand why we ran clock on our last offensive possession in 4Q... But would still snap the ball with 10 seconds left.

Didn't like the 4th down play call on the last drive or the pass calls in OT on the goaline.

If it's me, you run it 4 straight times and if they stop you, tip your cap. When they kicked the fg there was 0% chance UDel wasn't scoring a walk off td.

Can we have their qb?
Only if we raise more money, 😉
Geez. Terrible loss, just frustrating...

They still likely 8-4. End of season they gonna be upset they they could have been 10-2, 11-1.
Very optimistic but then again a weak schedule overall. 8-4 would get us a meaningless bowl that the school would lose money once again. Die hard fan, just keeping it real.
Rosa probably ain't playing much anymore this year after that fumble. It's clearly why he doesn't play and it's too bad because he's great besides the fumbles
I politely hope you are wrong here, maybe it's me but I do not recall him as being fumble prone. He had three runs for 40 yards, not something you want to leave on the bench. Yes every runner has to protect the ball but defensive players are now taught to attack the player and strip the ball at the same time.
So much for those undefeated and 10-2 predictions on this board. Mora really knows how to kill attendance at the Rent.
This is not all on Mora, he took a job that was promised to be in a conference. He is making the best of what he can of a football
s*#t show.
I was planning to go to the game next weekend but not anymore.
Don't let your feelings disrupt the day. Die hard UConn fan mind cleansed of the day. What more could one ask for? Who is a better fan than you?

Man why are people acting like we got blown out by 50

Overreaction much?
